    Know The Opposition

Sheffield United Football Club (nicknamed The Blades because of Sheffield's history as a steel city, Red and White Wizards and Red and White Army) is an English professional football club based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Sheffield United was founded on 22 March 1889 at the Adelphi Hotel, Sheffield by the President of the Cricket Club, Charles Clegg (also the President of Sheffield Wednesday and later the Chairman of the Football Association).

Sheffield United's greatest years came immediately after their formation — as they enjoyed an unbroken 37-season spell in the top flight (which remains a record for a newly promoted team) won the League Championship in 1897/98, and were runners up in 1896/97 and 1899/1900. Since then Sheffield battled relegation to lower divisions, with the nadir proving to be the 1978/79 season where they were relegated to the Third Division. They enjoyed better years after the turn of the millennium — narrowly missing out on promotion playoffs for the Premier League in 2003/04 and 2004/05 (eventually securing promotion in 2006); as well as reaching the FA Cup and League Cup semi-finals. However, they were again relegated to the League One on 30 April 2011.

Sheffield United's most noteworthy rivalries include city neighbors Sheffield Wednesday (dubbed the Steel City Derby), Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Leeds United, Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham United. Sheffield United play their home games at the historic Bramall Lane, the oldest major league ground in the world, having hosted its first game in 1862 a match between Sheffield Club and and Hallam. It also hosted the world's first ever floodlit football match on 14 October 1878.

It’s Sheffield United, the worst team in the league.

However, you just know that we’ll make them look like a combination of Brazil 1970 and Barcelona 2009.

Assuming there’s no-one back from the injured.

I can’t bare watching Wan-Bissaka. Hes the worst footballer we’ve ever had as a regular starter.

I don't care if some of them are 'injured.' Make them play. If they can stand and walk, they can go out there and do something.

6-5 United. We'll go 5-0 up, they pull it back to 5-5, Antony to score a 98th minute winner and then runs the length of the pitch to shush Sheffield United fans.

This could be even worse than usual with the injuries and being held to a draw and extra time by the mighty Coventry. Wouldn't be surprised if we lost unless we have a few defenders return.

This is probably the only guaranteed win left from the remaining 6 PL games.

They're basically relegated after losing 4-1 vs Burnley at home. They'll have a go like they did at Anfield recently. We could be in trouble if they take their chances, as they do have some quality in the form of Hamer, McAtee and Brereton Diaz.

Maybe a dodgy 2-1 home win.

Rashford must be on the team sheet if you want that

To be fair this at least is a solid team and a team sheet of players who care about their futures at the club. Which is about the best we can hope for.

I’d take AWB out and play a youngster if we have good enough, I don’t think he cares about his performance or being here tbh.

I would've said we'll win, it's only Sheffield United. But yeah, I know better after today

Drop Rashford and Hojlund. Both shouldn't start again this season.

'Ten Hag out, Ten Hag out, Ten Hag Out'
Who the feck are we playing instead of hojlund? What's he done wrong anyway? He's our only fit striker and he always tries.

Congratulations on the most ridiculous post on redcafe, ever. It was a tough ask, there’s some proper nonsense posted her at time but you just about pipped it. :houllier:
Tbf, I feel that way about most of your ten Hag related posts. :D

Everyone has their own opinion. The guy is probably just pissed off after a terrible performance and venting through exaggeration.

This and Burnley, although I can completely understand why you’d think that we’d not win against a god awful Burnley.

They've shown a bit of of form recently. Only 1 defeat from their last 7 PL games. 2 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat.

They could be still in with a chance at safety when they play us. They actually outplayed us for large spells in the reverse fixture.

Yup. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they walked away with a point. Our performances are consistently awful, so anything could happen.

We might win. We might lose. We will definitely concede chances. We will definitely leave huge holes in our midfield. It's a dead rubber for us anyway, we are not getting top four.

Mate, he's useless up top. He can't play in this formation and struggles to do the basics at the moment. If we aren't going to change tactics, maybe change the position and play someone who will move into space and link up play better. Just because he's the only forward, doesn't and shouldn't mean we continue to play him. He's not played well for months.

We have won 3 of our last 10 games and we are averaging 2 goals conceded in each game. Sheffield United are shite but we run them damn close. I’m going with a lacklustre 2-1 win, probably McTominay late winner.

Guaranteed Rashford makes a quick recovery.

I despise a lot of the players and the manager, coaches, medical team. Really just want the season to end and hopefully the new guys running things will make some big changes as we are not even a shadow of the shadow of our former self.

So I'm going for a 2-2 draw with them scoring both goals after 90mins.

He's fine, he's just not a left back
I have to disagree, he doesn’t have the desire or hunger to progress his game and relies on his tackling too much. His heading for example is just bad for a defender, he just bounces it up in the air instead of clearing it.

He’s also either not fit enough / lacks stamina or is just lazy when he needs to track back.

I thought he was going to be great for us but he has one good quality, 1 on 1 defending which isn’t enough.
