All these “we can kiss goodbye to top 4” posts are ridiculous. We are 1 point off 4th with a game in hand on them. Yes there are teams behind us with games in hand but hardly anything to leave us too far behind. In fact, looking at it the worst case scenario is that we are 3 points off the top 4 when all the games are played. We have every chance.

We suck against pressing teams and our home form is hardly anything to rave about.

I suspect they'll press us into a stupid mistake, give away a dangerous set piece. Not feeling confident.

United to have 5 goals ruled out for scoring with the wrong foot. Southampton to throw the ball into the net from close range for the winner

I think worst case scenario we’d be 6 points off 4th in 8th place.

Are you considering the fact Wolves and Arsenal’s games in hand include one against each other and Spurs and Arsenal’s games in hand include one against each other?

If we don't play well in this game, Southampton along with Hasenhuttl will take the game away from us very soon. I watched the Spurs vs Southampton game last night and they were unbelievable. Spurs really struggled against them. We really need to up our game and play well to win or there won't be any draw, they'll take 3 points from OT.

    De Gea

    Shaw
    Varane
    Lindelof
    Dalot

    Pogba
    McTominay

    Sancho
    Bruno
    Lingard

    Ronaldo

1-1 and our chances of top 4 are taken out behind the shed and put out of its misery
it's getting to the point where United will need to win the Champions League to get Champions League football next season.. no pressure! :nervous:

maybe that's what we should do.. put all our eggs in the CL basket! Hope for a few lucky draws and then 10 men behind the ball in the final, win on penalties!

wouldn't bet against anything in this crazy season.

Yes. Arsenal and Spurs even on points. One or the other could win while Wolves could win vs Arsenal. Obviously many permutations but it would be worst case.

we're due one match where it comes together. we just need to take our chances and we'll be good. seems easier said than done lately, but its pretty simple.

Big big game, especially after Spurs lost against them. 3 points would be huge.

We need all the big experienced players in this one for sure.

is there a way we can get both Ronny and Cavani in the same team? Maybe play Ronaldo off the left?

    Sancho Cavani Ronaldo

    ?

i think Ronaldo is better off the left anyway, he can arrive in the box late and use his underrated off the ball movement better as he's not so static stuck upfront doing the graveyard shift with no service. I think he becomes too isolated playing as number 9 and becomes easier to mark for the opposition defenders with his back to goal. I don't think we are currently playing Ronaldo in his best position where he's most dangerous to get the best out of him, which contradicts what Rangnick said about playing every player in their best positions.

One of the first games in a long time I have a good feeling about; we will win.

Southampton are a really good team so this will be a good pre-cursor to how we might approach and what we can achieve in the City and Liverpool games in how far we have come. Because of the way Southampton press like monsters etc

    Ralph's first real big test.

I really hate 12:30 kick-offs. I can't prove this with any stats but they always seem so dull, boring, tight games and lacking goals.

    players still look half-asleep.

Pogba always has shockers against Southampton in midfield. I would play him in a front 3 with Ronaldo and Sancho. Hopefully Fred is back, we need McFred (and I'm being serious here)

We've failed to win our last 3 games due to squandering a bucketload of chances in all of them. That's four priceless points in the league and our last chance at winning a trophy down the drain.

Someone, anyone really, has to pay for that.

    4-0 to United.

    No, seriously, 4-0 United guaranteed.

These guys will frustrate us again (not last season), Ward Prowse will score his usual free kick etc.

We have 3 important games coming (Brighton and Leeds before Madrid) and we need to boost our confidence back from two disappointing results.

I'd like to rotate a bit, but don't sure we have much players to change.

Attwell has shafted us as the VAR for the last two matches. Who on earth has thought it a good idea to appoint him as the on field referee for our next match, at home to Southampton on Saturday? What the f*ck is going on?
This is a joke right! Bloody hell, just hope the OT crowd give him shit. Not getting anything then on Saturday .

Need to score 6 goals to get 2 goals in scoresheet.
So Mr. Attwell and VAR can sleep peacefully after the game.

I'm not an expert on Southampton but I get the impression that they rarely have 2 great performances in a row, am I right?

Don't do this to yourself mate.
4 goals is asking too much of us, I'm afraid. We rarely score more than 1 goal per game, let alone 4.

We drew (in normal time) against the Championship side.
We drew against the bottom of the league side.
Now we are playing a team which is better than both of those teams.
I just can't see us winning this one.

Southampton looked great in their win against Spurs. Ralph hasenhüttl knows Rangknick well from his time at RB Leipzig so this should be interesting. I predict another draw, but Southampton could build on their win against Spurs and shock us at home

I’m liking what I’m seeing on field. We are definitely building up some steam and gelling well. Need to start taking those chances and be more ruthless than being nonchalant. Get Maguire out of that starting XI with Lindelof to replace him, Elanga in place of Rashford and CR7 in
Place of Cavani and we should be good.
Southampton looking good but we need to start scoring more as our defense cannot be trusted to hold a 1 goal lead

Trust me, I never hold back from venting my opinions of refereeing decisions, as those who sit near me in East stand upper tier will testify. Tomorrow will be no exception!
