He's had some dominant performances against some top strikers. He's an excellent defender.

Dribbled by an opponent only 21 times over the past 5 1/2 seasons of Premier League and Champions League football.
436 minutes is how long you need to wait for some cheeky goblin to dribble past him.
Nobody in Europe can match that.

Sad to see Jones and Valencia not being judged on their performance today by some. Haters gonna hate.

what we know for sure, this team does need to score the first goal. We are fairly consistent at home, a few top teams can beat us at OT. But our away form is our problem. But it was great to put spurs away really early

I love Carrick and Herrera as a partnership. I can understand why Van Gaal has been reluctant to play him and Mata because of the lack of a stable player like Carrick in Midfield. Carrick is just different gravy and there aren't many in the world like him. He allows adventurous midfield players like himself to play with freedom knowing that behind them is covered well. United are lucky to have him and it'll take a big big player to replace him when he hangs it up.

The number 16 lives up to its reputation

Yep, been a lot of performances that could have turned into really good ones if we'd got a nice early goal, but instead stagnated into dominant possession and no penetration as we got more and more frustrated and the opposition settled more and more into their defensive shape.

If I was being called a transfer flop and was given 10mins at the end of a game I would be trying my hardest and upmost to get a goal.
7 wins in a row when he has started this season for us...I think...

I love it when the players that non-United fans don't rate - because they based their opinions of those players on the MotD highlights of their first couple of games and never gave them a second glance - really stick it to some drool-spattered Next Big Thing. Smalling made the great Harry Kane disappear today, with the sort of performance which he's actually been putting on for months now, and which United fans have known is in his locker for quite some time.

The areas of his game which look technically deficient are shrinking rapidly, too. Still not the best bet with a long diagonal but he looks much tidier and more confident on the ball. Put Kane on his arse a few times.

Jones was great too. I prefer Rojo-Smalling as our first-choice partnership but Jones' game complements Smalling's too.

Clearly the answer is to pick a line up where there seems to be no balance so no one can guess who is going to play where. Spurs neve did work it out (can't say I did either: were there two up front? ho wmany were in midfioeld?) Masterstroke, LVG!

This match renewed my faith. I don't want to say this is a turning point based on one match, but I seriously hope it is. Move of this. Even if we sprint into the oncoming hard fixtures at full speed all guns blaising like we played yesterday and lose all of them, I think I'd rather that because of what it could mean more long term. But honestly, with our attacking players playing like that every game City are gonna have to watch out for that 2nd place.

I'd like to think this was LvG's plan all along. He's got our ability to keep possession and defend well over the course of the season and improved a lot of player's performance, and now he's polishing that confidence off with the brutal attacks we're used to seeing. That said, I can't imagine if we're gonna keep this type of play is gonna keep up though as we're heading into some tough fixtures.

Still, more optimistic than I have been for 2 seasons.

Yep, its like when it took fans forever to realise De Gea was a top goalkeeper which we knew for a while. Hard to go against the general media narrative I guess.

I think a draw will be the result, but any result is entirely possible. But there's no doubt that Poch will have told the team to go for all 3 points .... and looking at your back four I'd say it might crumble under pressure.
How'd that prediction pan out for you then Glaston?

I know it's a bit late, but why does it say De Gea scored our first two goals on the threadmarks and on the first page. Sorry if it is too late.
