    Know The Opposition

Sheffield United Football Club (nicknamed The Blades because of Sheffield's history as a steel city, Red and White Wizards and Red and White Army) is an English professional football club based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Sheffield United was founded on 22 March 1889 at the Adelphi Hotel, Sheffield by the President of the Cricket Club, Charles Clegg (also the President of Sheffield Wednesday and later the Chairman of the Football Association).

Sheffield United's greatest years came immediately after their formation — as they enjoyed an unbroken 37-season spell in the top flight (which remains a record for a newly promoted team) won the League Championship in 1897/98, and were runners up in 1896/97 and 1899/1900. Since then Sheffield battled relegation to lower divisions, with the nadir proving to be the 1978/79 season where they were relegated to the Third Division. They enjoyed better years after the turn of the millennium — narrowly missing out on promotion playoffs for the Premier League in 2003/04 and 2004/05 (eventually securing promotion in 2006); as well as reaching the FA Cup and League Cup semi-finals. However, they were again relegated to the League One on 30 April 2011.

Sheffield United's most noteworthy rivalries include city neighbors Sheffield Wednesday (dubbed the Steel City Derby), Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Leeds United, Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham United. Sheffield United play their home games at the historic Bramall Lane, the oldest major league ground in the world, having hosted its first game in 1862 a match between Sheffield Club and and Hallam. It also hosted the world's first ever floodlit football match on 14 October 1878.

I'd drop Casemiro and Rashford and bring in McTominay and Garnacho.

Start Antony and only use one of Bruno or Mount.

I'm not entertaining starting Bruno and Rashford anymore. They need some time on the bench.

    McTom and 10 others.

But more seriously, let's see who comes back non injured.

Far from hoping any of the missing first choice back 4 are back, I dare say we'll lose one or 2 of today's defence.

Definitely start Antony. For all the talk of how limited he is blah blah, no-one holds the shape quite like he does that side, has the right level of battle in him, and most importantly is much better there than shoehorning central guys in.

McTominay to be given freedom to drift back as a second striker, help out with build up play and make runs past the defender to free up space for Hojlund. Looks like a fecking mess, but our nice and tidy 4-3-3 keeps getting hammered so maybe this is the approach.

Slightly buoyed by the result today, but I am also glad that the break is now.

I am hoping Shaw, Reguilon and Varane are back, it would be a great boost to get some defenders back.

They're averaging nearly 3 goals conceded per game (boosted by that Newcastle game of course), and we're averaging barely over a goal a game scored.

In true football fashion, this will be an absolute pain to watch and finish 0-0.

I dunno. Let's get weird. Start players based on merit, drop others based on merit. Play with width, actually hold width and build from the wings. McTominay has to get in the team if you want to operate as a fair manager even if he is average, but play him as a second striker. Casemiro needs some time on the bench. Maguire has deserved a spot to start. Varane should stay out of the team for the time being.

Our team is a mess, but this one has width and Bruno tasked with creating and with 2 midfielders behind him. Basically we're back to Ole ball.

Rashford should be benched at the moment, but if he trains well might as well start him, he is still dribbling okay, though against packed defences it feels like Garnacho's agility is more useful than Rashford's direct dribbling.

Try Mount at LW. Didn't he have a productive spell there at Chelsea?

Could see the last two available but not Luke, think we won't see him until sometime in November. Sounds like Kobbie might make the bench which helps our midfield depth

Van De Beek? Seriously? He couldn't even get a start in the Carabou Cup. No chance he'll get thrown into a Premier League game all of a sudden. It wouldn't happen even if Eriksen, Bruno and Mctominay all pick up injuries on international duty.

Eriksen instead of him then maybe but we need stamina. Also it’s against Sheffield United, I’m not saying start him against the top 6.

People who want Casemiro to play are surely taking the piss. He has been, by a country mile, our worst outfield player this season.

    Onana
    Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Reguilon
    Mainoo, Amrabat
    Antony, Mount, Garnacho

Our best chance to win this game is without Bruno, Rashford and Casemiro. If any of those 3 play, we are going to struggle again. Mount has also done nothing to warranty a continued place in the 11. On merit, all 4 players deserve to be dropped.

Onana needs to be taken out of the firing line to get his head right or he will keep making mistakes. If Heaton is ready to go, i'd play him.

Hopefully Mainoo and Reguilon are ready for this one. Hannibal should also be playing way more than he has so far this season.

Not bothered who plays at CB because our top 4 CBs have been very poor this season. Lindelof is back to being his usual clownish self and Varane is a crock. I would put Evans and Maguire ahead of Lindelof in the pecking order at this moment as they have been much better than Lindelof when they've played.

With that being said, my XI would be:
    Heaton/Onana
    Dalot, Varane/Maguire, Evans, Reguilon
    Mainoo, Amrabat
    Antony, Hannibal, Garnacho
    Hojlund

I don't see ETH having the balls to drop ONE of the 3 star non-performers, nevermind all 3. Also until Onana scros 2 own goals in the same game he will never be dropped.
What I can hope for is at least to sub off the players who don't play well, at half time or around the 60th minute.

We might finally have two healthy, available fullbacks for this match(Regulion coming back). Drop Rashford, Casemiro and Bruno(I know Bruno won't be dropped, but I still have to promote that obviously good idea - feel the moral obligation). Use Rashford as a sub maybe against tired legs(replacing Garnacho around 60-70 minute). Message has to be sent to him.

Amrabat - Hannibal - Mount/Eriksen should be our midfield for this match with Mainoo as a potential substitute.

Edit: Who am I kidding, it will be the same midfield as in the match against Brentford. ETH is stubborn as hell.

-Rashford and Casemiro need to be sat down.
-Bruno and Mount should not be on the field at the same time.
-Antony is our most dangerous RW and he shouldn't be sat down just because ETH won't concede that Bruno and Mount shouldn't be on the field together.
