I said that you could argue that.

What you cannot argue is that Pogba has performed anywhere near the level of the players that I listed. Yet he himself quite evidently thinks he belongs in the very top bracket of players.

Frankly, I'm amazed that people who support Manchester United and want to see the team do well are defending him.
I would like to see where he stated he belongs in the top bracket of players. However I digress.

What I think should happen is that our most technical players should be given a stay of execution to see how they perform under a different manager because:

    1. Most of these players were better and more consistent before working under Mourinho.
    2. The cost of replacing our best players as opposed to replacing the manager is night and day.
    3. What players wish to come to Utd under Mourinho that are better than Pogba? Let me know because most either used Utd for new contracts or refuse to even comment on any speculation or show any interest in the idea.

You simply wouldn't agree to appear in this advert:

Unless you had a high opinion of yourself. That's before the rest of his conduct is taken into consideration. At times his lack of effort and professionalism on the pitch is palpable, and it's hard to find any other explanation for this other than he thinks he's too good to bother running around.

Most of these players were better and more consistent before working under Mourinho.
I wouldn't say Mourinho has been a good or successful manager recently by any stretch of the imagination, but Pogba has been a highly underwhelming signing for United. It's stretching credulity, in my opinion, to believe that a new coach will come in, and he'll suddenly start performing brilliantly and with massive commitment.

The cost of replacing our best players as opposed to replacing the manager is night and day.
Pogba will be sold if his performances don't improve quite significantly, because he is a massive asset that is producing very little. You can't sell the manager, you just have to pay him off. Realistically, both will go.

What players wish to come to Utd under Mourinho that are better than Pogba?
I don't know because I'm not privy to this information. I would say the following. Firstly, I'm sure United could sign players with a better attitude than Pogba, who fulfil more of their potential. Secondly, how can United possibly be in a position where they can't sign or attract players? What other major European club of United's stature would possibly argue that they can't sign major players?

Pogba is a brand and attracts lucrative marketing. Why should he refuse such ? Was he not in European Team of the Year already? Where was the measure of the problems we have with him now in his previous club where he lifted trophies? With his country he lifted a major trophy despite all of the problems with his club manager at the time.

I cannot wait for a new manager to come in and prove our squad is NOT as bad as it is being made out. Yes out full backs are ageing, we need to balance the squad on the right and a new CB as well as a CDM . Some players who arent up to par will have to go but to put Pogba in that bracket is unjustified at this point.

Mourinhos lack of man management skills has been brutally exposed in his last 3 clubs spanning some 7-8 years now. Pogba is by no means perfect, but the witch hunt everytime he has a bad game by the fans and the manager also isnt helping.

I agree with you there. However, Mourinho surely cannot be blamed for Pogba attempting to do kick-ups on the edge of his own area, and losing the ball. That is all on the player. Everyone that has ever played football from the age of about 8 knows not to do that. He shouldn't need a new manager in order to refrain from doing that, it is indicative of an appalling attitude.

Of course. He doesn't like the manager's tactics and so is not arsed. Fault's on him, but also on Jose for not managing the team properly.

By your logic, the manager has no blame in anything. I repeat, there is no team like ours which goes from the lowest of lows to a high when they want. And sometimes they stay poor all game. This is a managerial problem, 100%. It's like having the right tools but not knowing how to best use them.
Of course there is always a lot to hang on the manager of any team, in this case Jose Mpurinho. What I have a problem with is the idea of hanging everything on a manager or over simplifying the causes of poor performances. When I see a player flop the way Pogba and some other players did yesterday, I struggle with the idea of blaming the manager. I prefer to look at things more holistically. The same Pogba, under the same manager, has had almost surreal levels of performances. What happened at those good times? Was that due to the manager 'motivating' him enough? If that is the case then the days Jose smiles at Pogba, Pogba will play brilliantly and the days when Jose is moody, Pogba will flop. When a striker who is paid in one week, money some won't earn in a life time, misses sitter after sitter, does that come down to the manager? When a professional footballer playing for one of the greatest clubs in the world fails to make the most basic smart decision on the pitch, does that come down to the manager?

I like to be clear: Jose has not been impressive. No doubt about that in my mind but I also think the club has been difficult to manage for a number of reasons including the quality of our players. At the moment, I am so curious to see how we will fare if we have a new manager but exactly the same set of players. For the sake of football, that will be an interesting experiment.

    I couldn't watch the game.

So I watched the highlights on Match of the Day and they barely covered the 2nd half because nothing happened. So we had 45 mins to get a goal against a terrible Southampton team and there was nothing in the 2nd half worth highlighting?

    Absolutely shocking.

Thats right, Mourinho cannot be blamed for the lack or respect and petulance Pogba is exuding at the moment.

I honestly thought he turned a corner from that a few months back after the "TrainingGate" episode, but something has happened again and to me it has erupted once more.

Lets not forget Mourinho spoke about players not having a strong mentality and not showing the right attitude. Next game Pogba was a substitute and Sanchez was out of the entire squad. Before the Southampton match there was talk of a discipline issue between Mou and Pogba and the match selection stunk of placing Pogba in a team with dead players and only Rashford ( he did similar against West Ham but it was Martial that time). The writing for me was on the wall that every passer of the ball was removed from the team aside from Pogba, and he was set up to fail. His attitude was shocking to it all, but Mourinho plays these games with the players, the media and the fans and it needs to stop. I have never seen a manager of Manchester United insult the intelligence of the fans like Mourinho and I am certain he is doing it to the players also.
