This goal was all on Bailly, not Darmian. A full back is not to be expected to stay wide to mark a winger when the ball is on the opposite end. He was correctly positioned and had little to do with the good pass out on the wing.

Bailly was walking and played the assister onside and then let the scorer in front of him. He's clearly been injured for half the match and should have taken himself off a long ago.
My issue here is Darmian was too high and Fletcher was teeing up that pass for an eternity. Absolutely no anticipation or nouce from Darmian to start shifting over towards the wingers direction so he can close him quicker. By the time the ball is played he is ball watching, tried putting his hand up for offside and is now to far away to make up any ground.

    Pathetic.

Well Jose want to see our mettle from falling behind, now thats over, lets put at least 3 in, in the secondo half. Martial for Mhki later on, if Mhki continues having a quiet game.

Hope we stop playing short corners. We've got plenty of height to battle with stoke. Surprisingly we've been excellent at setpieces this year.

Blind for darmian, martial for herrera and have rashford on the right. The 3 in midfield seems overkill considering they are being defensive

Mkh really switches off in these games on the right side.

Seen nothing from him so far on the ball, his workrate and movement drops down.
He rarely imposes himself on a game, and goes missing a lot of the time.

However, he is still capable of picking up an assist or two and even a goal out of nothing.

Whether or not that is good enough for a United player is up for question.

I just hoped he would be more influential on our play since joining I guess.

When we finally stop with the short corner nonsense, we score immediately. Coincidence? Bailly should be subbed for his lack of dedication and concentration. Give Smalling the second half to prepare for CL.

So Darmian is playing to close the left flank but all of their attacks is from this side including their goal. No comment really.

I'm convinced that our team isn't suited for this 4-3-3. Herrera isn't offering an attacking efforts as having a direct number 10 and Mikhi is crap on the right flank. Having Mikhi and Valencia on the right is so painful they're ruining all our attacks.

Quick, put Mata or Martial instead of Herrera and push Mikhi to the number 10 role and we'll win.

He's not playing on the right when we have the ball he's spent the whole game at number 10. The reason he's doing nothing is because literally the whole Stoke team are camped in their own half and he has 0 space to do anything. All of our plays have been down the wing or balls in behind, we haven't been able to play in between the lines at all and that's his game so what do you expect him to do?

I can't remember why I joined this war.
Was double celebrating for the Pogba fantasy points, then saw the deflection :)
Has to be Rashford's goal though. It would have stayed Pogba if it was a defender there, but they always give it to the last attacking player to touch.
Yeah that might be the reason. In the end I don't really care who of the lads scored as long as we score. :D

Oh and great to see that we actually scored from a corner.

    Great response.

Was waiting to see how the team would react when giving up the 1st goal and playing from behind. What was that, 1 maybe 2 minutes Stokes lead lasted? Great instincts from Pogba and a bit unfortunate he won't be getting the goal haha
Yep some of our younger players in particular could have sulked and moaned until halftime but not a bit of it. Encouraging signs given we haven't been very good so far today.

So many good forward runs ignored. Herrera particularly has been guilty of not making the forward looking pass. The ultra slow build up is maddening especially given how much space there seems to be in Stoke's final third.

Why is Darmian playing like kick returner when Stoke pings a long ball behind?!

He looks always billion miles behind back line. Just give a chance to Mitchell or some kid i dont give a feck even if its some 15 year old kid.

Darmian is the one not paying attention lost his man and was way out of position
He played Diouf off, but Bailly was caught walking up and played him offside...then Bailly was weak and didn't get infront of his player who got goal side and into position to score the goal. Just stop.

Good to see Matic has worked out all our corners can't beat the first man so he made sure he was the first man to flick it on.

Going away to Stoke is very rarely going to result in a vintage display from any team. If we can kick on from here and get the win it will be the sort of win that leads to titles.

I would move Pogba deeper and get Matic and/or Herrera ahead of him. We need his long passing ability to get the balls to our runners and the other CMs can win possession high up the pitch to pressure Stoke.

There is no space in the middle to play through the way we are set up and our FBs are hopeless at delivery from wide.

For all people giving shit to Darmian or Bailly, don't forget about all the time Fletcher had to play that pass and we play with 3 fecking midfielders. Herrera and Pogba have been poor.

With Herrera on the pitch Matic isn't doing much. Little defending to do, height is not being used offensively and he's much less involved. I understand why

Darmian was in line with Jones and Valencia. Bailly hung back and played the winger onside. Even if he was too high up a simple cross shouldn't result in a goal because the defender, Bailly, should have gotten there first.

After the first few games, it's hard not to look at Herrera and think what does he do, but we can't judge it on Stoke away! It's always a difficult game.
