The genius is at it again.

Phil Neville: "It looks like De Gea has been dropped to me."
He did say the press conference was yesterday. It was on Friday.

Mourinho didn’t confirm Mata was injured at his Friday press conference - having undergone surgery on the Thursday. He doesn’t always give full injury updates.

Phil Neville loves to cut the branch he is sitting on. Its always evident in his punditry. It will Take no time for rumours to start

Jaysus this place is a mess and we haven't even started yet. That team should be good enough to beat fecking Sunderland. If it doesn't then... eh.. then I'll moan too.

Fecking Fellaini. He was culpable for the goal (twice) on Tuesday but he gets treated with kid's gloves in case his feelings get hurt like when he gave the penalty away against Everton away. Ridiculous.
Mourinho probably thinks we don't have any better options and I tend to agree. It says a lot for the quality of our squad when Fellaini can get himself in the starting lineup.

Fellaini leading United in the sprints too
    ‘Captain, leader, legend’ banner incoming.

United are warming up with some sprints on the pitch. Marouane Fellaini is right at the front. Taking his new responsibilities seriously.

Clever management from José he knows Fellaini will be right up for this now. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns in a MOTM performance.

We always say this though before a match "this team should be good enough to beat so and so".

I've just got back from america. Haven't slept in about 22 hours after 16 hours of travelling. If we don't win this I'm gonna have a mental break down.

Every touch he makes will be amplified now
    Good.
Shaw has done very little in the 2.75 seasons he has played for us.
If I had my way, I'd have a camera fixed on him permanently throughout the game - player cam!
Many fans complained about Anderson being a wage thief - but what about Shaw? He has done less than Anderson and fans want him to escape the wrath of the manager?

Jose is not here to keep us in 6th place. He is here to improve us and push us into 1st place and if that means that means Shaw (and other poor performers) need to be told to work harder (SHOCK HORROR!), then so be it.

In saying all of the above, Shaw is not the reason we are in 6th place. That honour belongs to our dreadful attackers who can't consistently finish chances and put the entire burden of goal scoring on Ibra. If our current set of attackers (particularly Martial and Miki) continue playing as they currently are, I'd be looking to get a good price for them in the Summer. If we are going to win the title next season, we simply can't afford to have deadwood on our books and right now (apart from Rooney) Martial, Miki are the very definition of deadwood, weighing us down. I would play these 2 in every game, until the end of the season, to give them adequate opportunity to prove their worth. If they fail, then they should be told that they are free to leave.

    Quick points:
    - De Gea not starting is a non-issue for me. He's done it a few times this season already
    - Pleased for Shaw who's getting a rare start at LB today.
    - We're playing 4-3-3 today and Fellaini has been better than Carrick recently so he deserves the start next to Pogba and Herrera for me.
    - The fact we've not settled on a LW yet, is disconcerting. We keep rotating between Martial, Rashford and Lingard and no one's really done a good enough job. You'd think given his last season and his talent Martial would be given more chances to play through his bad form, while Rashford would be playing more as CF when he does.

No De Gea is very strange. Valencia I guess is just being rested. Its a decent team otherwise besides the obviously laughable decision make Fellaini captain.

Don't see Herrera as a captain. To indisciplined.
Indisciplined like Roy Keane - our greatest captain ever - like him?
Herrera is the guy who I have wanted to be our captain since the start of the season. Ibra is the only other candidate capable of leading a team.

Darmian at RB? That looks more of a concern than Fellaini in a 3-man midfield. Also, I'm getting a wee bit scared about the Martial situation - was okayish the last time he came on, could see he was trying real hard; Shaw's much needed overlapping runs tend to help Martial's game too.

Dunno about that, doesn't sound like De Gea will be back before the Chelsea game
Haven't heard of an injury though?

If he's been dropped for anything other than this then I'd rather we just gave him his move and moved on.

Someone from the M.E.N. must be on here.

Has Real interest played role in De Gea absence?
Cast your mind back two years ago and De Gea appeared to lack focus as he conceded soft goals against Villa and Everton amid strong interest from Real Madrid.

It’s recently resurfaced and he almost dropped one in against West Brom and was culpable for Phil Jagielka’s opener.

Mourinho said ‘little problem’ and didn’t specifically mention an injury, which was ambiguous. United maintain he is injured but that hasn’t stopped the TV pundits from speculating already.

Ibrahimovic shows teammates how it's done
Not watched all of United’s shooting practise in the warm up but Ibrahimovic was the man laying balls off to his colleagues and about six missed on the trot so the Swede decided to abandon that role and smashed one in past Joel Pereira.

I am watching the game on a french channel, and i think i heard Jose say that it was family problem, and that De Gea will be back for the next premier league game.

Edit: i'm not sure about the family part, i heard problem though, but i am sure about the coming back next game part.

I agree. It makes no difference who is Captain either, it is just an armband. Players take individual responsibility for their own actions on the pitch, and should not be affected by who wears a piece of cloth on their arm. Jose sets out the game plan and they follow it. If they cannot beat this Sunderland team then the club and team really are in a mess.

It wouldn't be his first, people here tend to forget. Lingard's eitheir.
