  1. Newcastle United now owned by the PIF | PL receives "legally binding assurances that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not control NUFC" ;)

The pre-Abramovich ones where plucky little Newcastle were by far the biggest spenders in the league and still won feck-all: Hopefully history repeats itself.
  2. Newcastle United now owned by the PIF | PL receives "legally binding assurances that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not control NUFC" ;)

I’m sure it’s been said, but I feel insanely lucky to have grown up in the 90s supporting a club that had incredible success without any of this evil shite.* Thank God for Alex Ferguson. *[/spoiler]
  3. Best match you’ve ever been to?

Weirdly, losing 3-2 to Spurs in 2012. Atmosphere in that bonkers second half was incredible.
  4. How good was Park Ji-sung?

Started 15 CL knockout games including 2 finals.
  5. How good was Park Ji-sung?

One thing that gets forgotten about Park is how bad (relatively speaking) his injury record was. He’s seen as a squad player, but when he was fit he started more often than not.
  6. Vidic, Terry, Rio, Stam, Van Dijk

Rio in 07/08 is the best season I’ve seen a CB have in my lifetime. 50 starts, 30 of which he kept clean sheets in, and 1 wherein he only conceded a (treble ending) goal while he was in net… Champions of Europe and England, and we scored more than a hundred goals that season so we were hardly...
  7. Pep: “I’d like more fans to come Saturday”

I reckon they’re going to. There’s 20,000 or so proper matchgoing fans who still think they support the actual Manchester City and get absolutely outraged at anything which might lift the scales from their eyes about how their club was killed off and replaced thirteen years ago. Being the...
  8. Wes Brown

He started 48 of our 55 games that year, more than anyone except Rio, and we kept 26 clean sheets in those games. He wasn’t amazing going forward (didn’t exactly need to be with who was in front of him) but he was a huge part of what made that defence one of the best in the history of English...
  9. Wes Brown

He was exceptional in both legs at CB against European champions Barcelona in 2008. Reasonably high pressure situation…
  10. Paul Scholes - Pure Class, Silk in a Glass

Yeah, I checked the last time a Chelsea fan was talking shite about Scholes and Lampard’s best was 12, whereas Scholes managed 14, which I think is a single season record he shares with Yaya Toure.
  11. Paul Scholes - Pure Class, Silk in a Glass

Scholes had one league season playing in the Lampard/Bruno role, and scored more non-penalty goals than either ever managed in a year. If he’d spent his whole career that far up the field he’d be our top scorer. If he’d taken penalties as well he’d have made Lampard look like a chump.
  12. Is our CM situation any worse than it was during our last title win?

PL Starts in CM in 12/13: Carrick: 32 Cleverley: 15 Anderson: 9 Scholes: 8 Giggs: 5 Jones: 5 Fletcher: 2 Rooney: 2 Weird season. I’ve said it before (and got stick for it) but we should have signed Modric instead of Van Persie.
  13. Is Fred the worst regular starter for United in living memory?

Cleverly never started more than 18 games for us in a league season. He just seemed like a regular because he was the tallest dwarf in terms of partnering Carrick 12-14.
  14. Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester United

Not sure that was actually going in…excellent goalkeeping.
  15. Is Cristiano Ronaldo a United legend? | Poll added

Law - let go by the club at 33 Best - booted out by the club at 27 Keane - booted out by the club at 35 Schmeichel - took a step down at 36 Ferdinand - took a step down at 35 Beckham - booted (heh) out of the club at 28 Cantona - retired from the game at 30 Ronaldo - forced his way out at 24...
