  1. Mason Mount | 2023/24 Performances

The fact that he is an ex Chelsea player is irrelevant. I doubt anyone would have complained if we had signed a 25 year old Eden Hazard from them or a peak Drogba. The reality is that people weren’t in favour of the transfer before we signed him because we’ve seen him play. He’s a player...
  2. Call our final position in the PL table

Looks like I might have been a bit optimistic. With Newcastle’s uptick in form, a win against them would now be a surprise. 4 points from the last 9 will be tough.
  3. Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

Beats one player and casually jogs into the box. That’s embarrassing.
  4. Marcus Rashford (Out) | Ornstein: United want to keep, will only consider substantial bids

Sancho is clearly at fault but, ultimately, a lot of blame has to also fall on the manager I’m afraid. A top manager nowadays has to have the skills to deal with spoilt youngsters, with more money in their early 20s than most of us could dream of having in a lifetime. If it’s correct that ETH...
  5. Marcus Rashford (Out) | Ornstein: United want to keep, will only consider substantial bids

Perhaps we would be better off just getting a world class manager AND only then deciding which players we should get rid of? When you see inferior players like Havertz and Sancho performing key roles for successful and well-managed teams, it does seem odd that our fanbase want to sell off one...
  6. David Ornstein: Man Utd want to keep Marcus Rashford | Consideration of sale if Rashford wants to take on a new challenge or a substantial bid arrives

How much would you expect to have to pay for Bowen from West Ham or Gordon from Newcastle out of interest? How about Martinelli from Arsenal or Grealish from City?
  7. Rasmus Højlund | 2023/24 Performances

Reading this thread, I find it all a bit puzzling. I’ve always thought we were set up to spread our goals relatively evenly across the front 4, with the CF playing a vital role in supplying the others. Over the past few years, we have had Martial, Cavani, Ronaldo and Rashford leading the line...
  8. Premier League Gameweek 34-35

What did Oliver think he’d seen first time around, from 5 yards away?
  9. Premier League Gameweek 34-35

This looks like Arsenal’s season at the moment. Getting absolutely pummelled here and somehow 1-0 up.
  10. Premier League Gameweek 34-35

    Just off I think.
  11. VAR and Refs | General Discussion

Which is why “clear and obvious” is a flawed approach. All the VAR should be asking themselves is whether they would have reached the same decision. If they disagree, then they can call the ref to the monitor and have a grown-up discussion. It’s still the on field ref’s ultimate decision, so...
  12. VAR and Refs | General Discussion

Goalkeepers cleaning players out when trying to get to crosses and fouls not being given has been an anomaly in the rules for years. I would have full sympathy with a decision being made (and communicated) that they were going to be penalties going forwards. Instead, we had the bizarre Wolves...
  13. Manchester United vs Sheffield United

We don’t seem to have too many options for this. I’d go with the following, assuming we still have no other CBs, as playing a really attacking LB seems a sensible step to take for Sheffield Utd at home, when we don’t have an actual left back available: Onana Dalot Maguire Casemiro Antony...
  14. Striker options?

We paid over £50m for Mount, so it seems unlikely we will be able to get Toney for less than £65m+ (as I expect that to be a signing where we will face some fairly serious competition). I’d be keen on the signing but I don’t see how we can get this done, given the other signings we need this...
  15. VAR and Refs | General Discussion

It will be contained very easily. Forest will get a fine. Most people will agree that they deserved it for the ridiculously unprofessional statement. Nothing will change. As has been said above, demanding changes to how VAR is implemented would be a lot more powerful than implying bias.
