Looking at what Amorim did at Sporting, he quickly gutted the team and sold pretty much everyone who was sellable, including players bought the previous season, to fund players for his system.
So, I could see Hojlund Zirkzee and Mainoo being sold.
Martial attacking looked promising as one of the 10s the few times Mourinho tried 343 back in 2016/17, mainly in the Europa League.
It seemed to free up his ability to find space and run with the ball in dangerous areas because he didn't have to track his opposing fullback.
Agreed. Plus, we will be due some much-needed ‘pure profit’ when and if Benfica sells him on to a third club in the future because we also have a sell-on clause.
I think they just mean a profit on disposal relative to his written-down book value after amortisation.
So, it’s a profit for Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) purposes.
He will probably take a few games to realise that he can't get away with some of the things he did in the Portuguese league.
I noticed the same ‘smaller league tax’ with Ten Hag (Playing Erikson as a false nine v Brighton and then the Brentford 0-4) and Van Gaal (the Leicester 3:5 loss) before...
Agreed. It's a clickbait headline number.
Firstly, if we have to pay it all, then it will be over two seasons, and Secondly, Ten Hag will probably take another coaching role during that time, offsetting some of the £17m.
His point was that he gets a Bosman if he waits a year (as well as this year's salary) and that he thinks he could negotiate a higher salary with a new club if he leaves on a Bosman.
Of course, that doesn't always work out (Lingard), but he has a point, in my opinion.
