  1. Who do you reckon will turn out to have had the better deal out of the Sanchez, Mkhitaryan swap?

Arsenal without a doubt? They lost Sanchez, who would have left 6 mths later anyway. Gained Miki, while being poor is still a rotational asset. Man Utd got Sanchez to play on the left, which so far is no tangible upgrade over Martial and Rashford. Also burdened with a huge contract.
  2. Roy Keane the pundit

Haha. No way. Maybe 5 rematches.
  3. Pep's spending is insane (£941m and counting at City)

I’ll have Mou’s job then. Spend 3x as much and still no need to win the title.
  4. Day 10: Belgium vs Tunisia, South Korea vs Mexico and Germany vs Sweden

Mathematically still in, but by all logic out. Because Mexico would be on 6, Sweden on 4. They will 99% play out a draw, which will suit both teams just fine, and knocking out the Germans. Germany knows this, and hence why they pushed so hard and risked even with 1 man down.
  5. The Offside Rule is a farce

I think he is referring to the situation I mentioned which will make that rule difficult to enforce. Which is, if there are several city players going in for De Bruyne pass. And the Karius-Milner situation took a few more deflections off Liverpool players. How would the linesmen and referee...
  6. The Offside Rule is a farce

Thanks. I think you are right if we are talking strictly about the rule, as it states when an opponent plays the pass. But I still think this particular type of situation does not fit the spirit of the rule. My issue with it is that, in terms of gameplay, Sane is offside if he is played in by...
  7. The Offside Rule is a farce

I think this is quite a unique situation which is not very clearly covered by the rules. A bit of a loophole if u will. Think of it another way, if there were a bunch of city players in the box when De Bruyne first played the ball, and the action took a few more deflections, how is the...
  8. The Offside Rule is a farce

I think the interpretation is not so clear cut. In the first part of the offside rule, we are talking about when the opponent plays the ball, and in this context clearly Sane is onside. The confusion comes in The next part when the rule addresses situations of the ball being played by the...
  9. The Offside Rule is a farce

The other point is this, beyond the actual technical implementation of the rule. I think all can agree that if a City Player headed the ball, then Sane is offside, since he gained an advantage by his position. On a logical basis (not technical basis) , why should that change because it came off...
  10. The Offside Rule is a farce

Is that really true ? Where do you get that rule from? My understanding is that if a goalkeeper’s goal kick hits his teammate accidentally and bounces to an offside opponent, that would be an offside. Maybe someone can confirm this?
  11. The Offside Rule is a farce

I agree that if it was an intentional pass from Milner, then there’s no offside. But it came from a deflection off his head, and Sane was gaining an advantage by being in an offside position when the new phrase of play happened.
  12. The Offside Rule is a farce

Sane was onside at KDB pass, but once Karius punches it, a new phase of play starts, and Sane is now in an offside position. Had a city player headed the ball to him, he would be offside. If we interpreted Milner’s header as intentional action, then Sane is not offside. If we interpreted...
  13. The Offside Rule is a farce

Milner didn’t head the ball back obviously. Why would he? It is a deflection off his head, so it is not deliberate.
  14. The Offside Rule is a farce

But Karius punching the ball is considered a new phase of play right?
  15. The Offside Rule is a farce

This is not right. For example , if you are standing behind the goalkeeper when he is kicking the ball up, you are still offside. Karius punching it does not make the offside go away.
