Nope. It was the correct call according to the laws of the game.

The offside call was because the Leipzig player who was offside became involved in active play by interfering with the goalkeeper’s movement.

I’ve figured out our problem. We seem to think that just wearing the badge means we’re somehow special. It doesn’t. It’s a chicken egg thing. The badge is special because of what we do on the field. We haven’t been doing that for quite some time. Realizing that will take a ton of pressure off.

He let his ego get involved. After Dalot’s first outburst, he needs to calmly call him over and explain that he may have missed the call for the throw-in but it’s the way he saw it. That would have allowed Dalot to calm down enough to avoid the red. Terrible refereeing.

The “subjective” meant it wasn’t a matter of drawing lines. It was whether or not Maguire became involved in active play. The referee decided he was.

It’s not farcical. Maguire was involved in active play hence the offsides. Had he not been involved in active play (I.e. remained stationary due to being in an offside position), the defender would have covered Garnacho and may have prevented the cross or at least the goal.
