If Gibson ends up staying then I think Fergie should boot him out of the club. We have Cleverley and Pogba coming through and they are of a higher quality than Gibson so there is no room for him in the squad. What is he thinking demanding a high salary at Sunderland? He has done nothing consistently at the top to merit the wages of a proven premiership player. He needs his head sorted out if you ask me but maybe he has another offer elsewhere. I really hope so for everyones sake.

Out of interest how many times have you seen him play?

It's very probably a tactic he used because he doesn't want to go to Sunderland. Can't blame him for that. Sunderland is hardly the most thrilling town in England, is it?

If I was a 23 year old full international with a league winners medals (and a couple of League Cups) who'd started and scored in the Champions League semi-finals two years running, I'd probably expect decent pay based on my CV. He probably makes pretty good money as it is at United, and with more responsibility at Sunderland I'd think he's well within his rights to ask for 40k/week, which really isn't all that much these days.

If Cleverley wasnt coming back to us I would be mroe than happy to see Gibson stay but Cleverley has a much better touch and is a much faster passer and thats what we are looking for. But Sunderland is Gibsons level and the type of place where he will thrive. I rate Gibson highley and he will be a tough player like Nolan or something that will score loads of goals from midfield but his touch and quickness of tought is just a little too slow for a Utd player. So its just dumb that he wont accept a good offer at a good club for a player that has never done anything consistently at the top apart from the odd big performance

We have also shown feck all interest in handing him a new contract.

Considering his current one runs out in 2012, he should take a hint.

I've never seen a youth team game or a reserve team game in my life.

He's hardly going to receive an offer from sunny Spain though.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson claims Darron Gibson has been left in limbo after Sunderland "moved the goalposts".

Sunderland made a triple offer to United for Gibson, Wes Brown and John O'Shea earlier in the summer's transfer window.

Brown and O'Shea have since completed their moves to the Stadium of Light, but Gibson's switch to Wearside has fallen through.

Ferguson said: "He was at the point of going to Sunderland and somewhere along the line, I don't know exactly when, I think Sunderland moved the goalposts.

"I suppose their job is to try and save money.

"From what I can gather, they gave him an offer and then changed it. That annoyed Darren and I think he's quite right.

"If you can't trust them on day one why wait until day two?"

Ferguson admits Gibson, who has been left behind from United's USA tour as he looks to sort out his future, has been left in limbo by the collapse of the Sunderland move.

"Darron was undecided about what to do when we made the group up to come here - and we both felt he'd be better staying back," added Ferguson.

"He seems to be in limbo at the moment."

And people were saying he has no right to ask for 40k!

He has all right to tell sunderland to piss off.
He has the right to ask for whatever he wants, what he can realistically attain is a different story though.
