What happened to the influx of new talent we were meant to be promoting in January?

Well Hamilton went out on loan, but that didn't really do anything.

Greenwood should be playing at this level. However I suppose they don't want him to play under Sbragia.

I don't understand why we still have players like Whelan/Poole/Williams/Dearnley in the u23s. All at an age where they should be seeking first team football elsewhere/being loaned out/sold if they aren't good enough.

Whoever at the club supported and maintains the appointment of Sbragia needs looking at. Absolute shambles he's even here let alone lasted as long as he has.

This type of player that clearly isnt good enough to make it at United long term are still needed to make up the numbers for the U23's! The better players (TFM, Tuanzebe) are loaned out. If the likes of Poole left then we'd have to play a bunch of 17/18 year olds that are not physically ready for the U23s

Rubbish. Look at Chong And Gomes, they're 2 of the most fragile players in that team and probably even the u18s if they were still in that team. Laird/Traore just two names to mention are both absolute beasts. They need to sort out the absolute atrocious standard of the refereeing at both levels to stop these fecking cnuts kicking all the young talent out of the game.

Moving players up to play under Sbragia is hardly a promotion. They're better off staying with the u18s.

What are the main issues with Ricky?

I've seen that he managed to get the team relegated last year and apparently plays cautious football. Is there more failings?

Missed the game today but sounds like I didn't miss anything other than a Sbragia special.

How about everything? A solid 60-70% of goals are conceded from corners or wide balls in because he is incapable of setting up a defence to defend simple crosses. The attack is completely disjointed and relies solely on the individual skill of Angel, Chong and DJ to pull the team out of the shit while playing terrible. Is there any accomplishments is the real question. Of which the answer is no, he is shit at everything.

To me, there seems little point investing in the academy if the final step in their development (the u23s) is underperforming. It should be as close to the 1st team as possible in terms of tactics, organisation and drive for high standards.

If this is not happening (which it sounds like), the club needs to address it

I don't care so much about the results. The biggest issue is that if you compare the football produced by the u18s, u19s and u23s it's like night and day. The under 18s & u19s play fantastic fluid attacking football and as they move up to the u23s, the play is completely disjointed.

There isn't even any improvement in the players individually. You see players who looked really promising in the u18s look like average players for the u23s. Chong was better in his first few games for the u23s than he has since. Gomes has been nothing special at that level. Buffonge is often dropped despite good performances.

I don't really want Greenwood playing under Sbragia. I also worry about a player like Lee O'Connor. Stuck with the u23s and isn't in the chosen 4 kids who go with the seniors. He looked a real talent but how will he develop? He'll be the next Joe Riley if he's not careful.

The academy has made huge strides in recent years but this u23 set up is a massive outlier.
