Rio Ferdinand on Ferguson, United and winning

This was a good watch, I thought. Two bits I found most interesting were:

16:35: Rio talks about the reaction in the changing room after that Sunderland game in 2012 when City scored late to win the league. He describes how Ferguson immediately started planning for next season to win it back.

18:35: Ferguson brought Chilean miners (who were trapped underground for months) to OT as part of a team-talk

The video will probably inspire and depress you in equal measure. There was nobody like Ferguson and there probably never will be.

I just can't watch these things any more, it's depressing. How we were back then and now having to watch Ashley Fecking Young captaining the team with Lingard playing number 10. I just can't.

I hear you.

One wonders how Lingard would have developed and what kind mentality he would have had under SAF.

All these stories from back in the day always seem to be spiced up each time you hear them. In another 10 years this story will be made even more interesting. Reminds me of an old saying

Really good podcast, I wathed this yesterday. Really insightful stuff as suual from Rio about mentality, hard work and overcoming difficulties in life. Also talks about signing Ronaldo, missing out on Ronaldinho and other stuff.

You are missing the point I'm making my friend.
Rio has told all there stories a number of times over the last 10 years and there always extra bits that seem to come out each time. Sells well I guess.

Really good interview. Absolutely excellent actually and most football "journalists" on TV would do well to let the subject talk as much as they did without feeling the need to claim half the screen time and use it to show off how knowledgeable they themselves are.

You can't develop shit in Lingard. You can't polish a turd. For the position he is supposed to play, he is such a limited player that he would have been at Norwich by now if SAF was still around.

That's a good point.

Sir Alex would have sold him the minute he turned up to training in full Adidas tracksuit and cap.
