Just buy him, he's the perfect profile for a back up striker.
bird in the hand?.. I get that, though he has only played what 6 or so games. Hardly proved himself as indispensable. Now if his team back down and we can get him at reasonable cost then sure why not, but he really shouldnot be that hard to replace and maybe even upgrade on for a club of our stature."Bird inth and"
His loan deal expires this week. When or how the Chinese season will restart is totally irrelevant. And yet, Associate Press on ABC News say today about the Chinese season.
"It still remains unclear when the postponed 2020 season will restart."
I hope not, I didn't expect much from Ighalo (not even a single goal) but he's gone well beyond those expectations.Gutted if he leaves.
Think this news with all the news coming out of Joshua king camp suggest we are going to replace Ighalo with King?
Sad to see him go. Had a chance to join his favourite team and this shite happens. Shame it can’t be extended given the circumstances. I hope to see him again next to be honest. He’s a welcome addition and not expensive.Tweet

I'm aware when his deal expires, understanding the situation in China provides a more rounded view on time factors that could have seen him stay for longer. His loan deal expires this week. When or how the Chinese season will restart is totally irrelevant.
I've been very impressed with him in such a short space of time, he seems to have fitted in superbly with the club, his team mates and the fans. If it was up to me to I would get him in at £20 million, provided he would accept the salary on offer, and a two year contract He's a player who would sit on the bench for a certain amount of games, and appears to be totally committed to the club, and in two years time, who knows, Haaland may be available.Just buy him, he's the perfect profile for a back up striker.
The problem here is that Chinese domestic season is about to start, unlike those out of contract players that I think you might be referring to.Really disappointing if he does, especially if he can't even get to finish the season with us.
Weren't FIFA trying to do something about contracts expiring before the domestic seasons could be resumed and completed? Did that ever amount to anything?
Neither, by the sound of things. Looks as if Shanghai Shenhua wouldn't agree a further loan deal, simple as that.So we either have a striker lined up or Ole is happy with the current situation. Would not of minded him staying.
Guarantee would have been like Ole where he came in with the amazing run and we made him permanent manager just for everything to go downhillIf we could have got a loan deal Extension that would have been decent.
No way should he have been a permanent purchase though.
go on then, name 12 players who could perform the role Ighalo would. He’s a bang average player and we’d be mental to spend £20m on him for two years. We’d effectively be spending over £300k a week for an average back up. He’s a dime a dozen player who could be bought for far cheaper.
I would rather spend £20 million on Ighalo, who maybe bang average, (he's looked a bit better than bang average since he's been at United), but he fits in perfectly with what United want and need, than a player who would need time to integrate in a possible shortened summer break, may want to be number one striker, and could take a season or more to get used to the EPL. I would take bang average if he continues to score goals. If United can get him for half that fee, then I think that's a no brainer for me. bang average striker who has 100% the right attitude Utd need, and has scored a goal every 2 games whilst here.I would rather spend £20 million on Ighalo, who maybe bang average, (he's looked a bit better than bang average since he's been at United), but he fits in perfectly with what United want and need, than a player who would need time to integrate in a possible shortened summer break, may want to be number one striker, and could take a season or more to get used to the EPL. There is no way they’ll offer that with teams in China already folding and the government calling for sustainable footballerHe should take that for himself, £75m is a great deal
It doesn't work that way. He's been here and we know he fits the team extremely well. He’s a bang average player and we’d be mental to spend £20m on him for two years. That's weird because I recall Ighalo having an actual meaningful impact here. Unlike what a bang average player would have. He’s a bang average player and we’d be mental to spend £20m on him for two years. We’d effectively be spending over £300k a week for an average back up. He scored a few times against lower league opposition who we destroyed. Exactly what a bang average player would do, one that doesn’t cost over £300k a week. That's weird because I recall Ighalo having an actual meaningful impact here. Unlike what a bang average player would have.
It was a desperate last second January transfer window deal. I doubt the club saw it as anything more than a quick fix till the end of the season. It's a shame that he won't even get that, but it was never going to be anything more.Question though. This was a [relative] masterstroke to identify & secure his signature but why didn’t we push for an option in the contract to extend or sign at a reasonable price.
Maybe his club only ever saw this as a short term deal & intended to bring him back all along but I worry we may have missed a trick here - finding a replacement won’t be easy.
