They are staunchly right wing. The pictures of Bryson & the Trump clan after the US Open were particularly gross.

They’re right wing mainly due to financial policy, but pro golfers do not particularly get turned off by the other shit Trump did, just like typical rich right wingers.

Last truly vocal Democrat of any note on the PGA Tour was David Duval. That cost him some sponsorships & support by fans & fellow pros.
Sounds like NASCAR and the country music industry.

Thank you for expanding on this further. I am not a golf enthusiast, so I wasn’t in the know with regards to all this. I guess I am also naive enough to think that most sportsmen/women would set a good example. Serves me right. I feel extra stupid

Reagan was Governor of CA when Arnold moved here in the late 60s and he was (oddly) also influenced by Nixon. He would've been a pretty effective Republican Presidential candidate up until the Tea Party period began.
I think even now, he'd piss in the Republicans primaries. The man is an icon and irrespective of where their loyalties lie, knowing his political stance and progressive nature, there would be a lot of dem voters that would sway towards him.

And for once they won't have to photoshop another face on posters of his.

I just don't think he would ever gain the nomination since the post Tea Party GOP don't have a place for normal politicians.

He was a failure as CA Governor and isn't even eligible to run for POTUS. He has as much dirty laundry as Trump in many respects.

I think the point the other poster was making is that he would do well if he was eligible to run, even with the affairs and other dirty laundry.

Sure he's great on TV but was never an effective politician. He got his ass handed to him by the nurses union FFS. He only started getting stuff done by grovelling to Dem speaker Fabian Nunez and compromising. He just got lucky because of a bunch of power outages costing Gray Davis his job.

As a former CA resident I will never forgive him for shelling out millions of taxpayer money to compensate rich assholes who built their houses on the side of mountains, didn’t get the right insurance, and then were shocked when mudslides destroyed them.

He's a big fan of mud because it helped him defeat the predator.

Ahhhhhh, it's not just the PGA Championship. Feck me, he's going to be really fecking pissed now

Oh, he's off to Alamo Texas on Tuesday. Any chance that's significant and he's planning another coup?

Announce the secession of Texas and then cheat at golf. Completely normal day.

Hope not :nervous:. I am interested to see what Cruz does. Is he going to double down and show up?

He's got some rough times ahead. At least he doesn't have to worry about Covid. I'm just excited about the day when we see a mugshot that shows what his hair is really like without all that styling.

I've noticed that you post a lot of bollocks. Less is more, you know....
Being serious here. Looking specifically at the presidency, it’s become quite a polished position aesthetically ever since Nixon.

But, I appreciate your thoughts.

Thats huge. Don't they hold events at the blue monster at Doral?
Nope, not anymore. Also although they won't openly admit it, Turnberry has disappeared from The Open rota. The Open has been held there four times but hasn't been considered since Trump purchased it.

There are rumours the European Tour are going to cut ties with his course in Dubai too.

Although all this worries me a little because along with his social media bans he must be fecking apoplectic.

We all know how he takes humiliation, rejection or any form of disrespect or embarrassment... He could go even further off the deep end now.

Shame, because Turnberry is a quality course with immense history.

Didn't Kissinger have a deal with the Joint Chiefs in Nixon's last days to prevent the execution of any nuclear launch orders?

Crazy that Trump could still nuke a country.

There are far too many safeguards in place for that to happen.

He went very loopy though and wasn't there some controversy about his SEAL claims?
Yes he did and there was a controversy. He was in the UDT as back then after BUD/S one either was classed to the SEALS or UDT teams. But the SEALS consider the UDT as their own and all wore the trident I believe. Also, Don Shipley clarified Ventura's service and claimed him as a SEAL (Shipley is a legend in that community).

I am knocking on all the wood here, so here I go:

What could he actually do now? You have to assume that the JCoS will delay and orders to initiate military action until Pence/Congress/Media can intervene. The current AG is not a cult member, so a roundup is not really an option. The worst I think he could do would be another call to arms to his people. What could that accomplish beyond chaos and deaths. Any of the above will lead to his head on a platter.

The problem is they will nuke back too. I am sure the JCS has a mechanism now to stop that.

Indeed it is. It's stunning and always a joy to watch the pros play it, especially in a major like The Open.

To be fair to him, Trump does own some breautiful courses. Doral is gorgeous as is Doonbeg in Ireland.

Hopefully he is forced to sell them. Especially Turnberry where he pissed the locals off and forced some of the oldest resident families out of their homes. The UK documentary about that was brutal. Yet more historical proof of what an utterly despicable cnut he is.

Never saw the documentary, need to search it out.

Yep, you are right about Turnberry. There’s some good clips about the famous Watson v. Nicklaus ‘Duel in the Sun’ showdown on YT. Well worth a watch to see how much the game has both changed & stayed exactly the same from the 70s.

think he really really fecked up with the election fraud bs, inciting violence leading up to the storming of the capitol. If he had just conceded after he lost the election and remained quiet, it would have been more likely for the Democratics reps to follow some bs norms of not prosecuting a former president and not follow through on prosecuting him. Now that he has angered almost everybody, no way he is getting away with not getting prosecuted for everything under the sun.
