I’d like us to go for someone like ten Haag, that Leipzig manager or even bielsa, them 3 would definitely make us play attractive football.
A relative lightweight manager at this level will struggle with the behemoth that is United on good days and they’d fold twice when they have to deal with personalities like Ronaldo right off the bat.

You need a big personality and a proven winner that commands respect from day one. That’s not Ten Haag or even Pochettino, whose seat is hot as hell in Paris. The only good answer is Zidane. He has Ronaldo and he has Pogba, who he wanted to sign for Madrid along with good young wingers in attack. He’ll thrive here.

This is such a backwards thinking, I truly hope our board is already making out initial contacts with prospective candidates and not waiting to be caught off guard again once it goes south (which normally happens very quickly). The signs are there for everyone to see now, even for the most blind supporters of his.
We’re one month into the season. We don’t do panic decisions very well.

1 point off top of the league and we want a new manager? Some you lads are just taking the piss…. Have a bit of faith, a bit of patience ….
It’s been three years, roughly £300m spent, a massive overhaul of the squad, yet we’re having the same midfield issues as we had at the start, the same issue of not playing until a goal down that we had at the start, the same issues with dominating games that we had at the start.

Obviously we have better players than at the start of Ole’s reign which mean that, objectively, we’ll win more games. But, apart from the players on the pitch, what has Ole actually changed?

He has Varane also, but we need to see if he can adapt to the English game because he’s Madrid through and through.

How is Zidane’s English? He’s a decent choice, and can’t be worse than Ole.

Very very bad and one of the reasons i'm sure he'll never coach in the PL.

If Brighton win tomorrow they will go top and I know it will be a risky appointment for a top 6 side bar maybe Arsenal due too their position but what do people think of Potter ?

He's been working miracles for the last two years with an average squad of players.
Jesus. Working miracles..

The bare minimum someone in his position has to achieve is top 4, so let's give him his credit and say he's met the absolute bare minimum standards. In his 1st full season he scraped top 4 on the last day of the season with 66 points, and this has been re-written as "a greatly successful 3rd place finish" when he was 1 game away from an absolutely epic failure that usually results in the sack. In his 2nd season he's taken those measly 66 points and increased it to 74 points with another top 4 finish getting absolutely nowhere near the title, and greatly overperforming xG and xPTS.

During that time, he's failed to get out the champions league group stages. If Ole is working miracles with a squad worth 100s of millions, God knows what Nagelsmann must have been doing with Leipzig to dump us into the Europa League. And he's also failed to win a trophy in that time.

I don't want to watch a sport where it's considered "working miracles" to take a squad worth £800m and not win a trophy and fail to challenge for the league title.

Conte is a pretty bad fit but he’s by far the best out there. He may actually strangle someone in the board. Also not sure he’s the type to take over midseason, he’d want a summer to assert himself over the squad. One for the future perhaps but not now.

Zidane really is the obvious choice. Has proven he can manage personalities but not sure he’s the most tactically astute. That Madrid attacking style had started under Mourinho and never really slowed down. He’s not inheriting anything like that here.

I agree with others that a lot of the less proven guys may struggle with the ego’s in the squad, even if they are doing brilliant things. I’d still take Poch if he becomes available though and if the egos become a problem I’d get rid of them.

Personally think Potter would do a great job. Better than Ole I imagine, as he seems really tactically astute.

Having said that, Ole's done a terrific job of rebuilding what was a broken club. To sack him now would be rash and I'm sure the higher ups will be thinking the same.

Just because he doesn't do interviews in English doesn't necessarily mean he utterly cannot communicate in the language. Even if that is so, more than half our squad is Portuguese, Spanish or French speaking. He can retain Carrick or hire an assistant if it meant having a confidante who can convey his message to the players.

Bielsa is doing perfectly fine with a translator at Leeds.

The broken club he inherited finished on more points than he’s ever managed to amass the season before.

Broken United - 81 points
Terrific Ole’s United - 76 points

We have better players now, that side had the likes of Young, Fellaini, Jones, Smalling & Darmian getting regular game time. What’s the excuse for the lack of progress points wise?

Support the manager ffs. One would think we were in a relegation battle.
Manager is supported by majority, also manager is supported with vast funding. Hardly supporter's fault our managers last maximum 3-4 years. Vision is required not only from the manager, but also from the ones having power to appoint one. They're making the choice and final call, not supporters.

Seems like everyone recently want to make great money in this club while putting questionable efforts and tbh standards of winning in Premier League are shifting up and would pose big challenge even to someone like Conte & Zidane.

Apart from Leeds or Newcastle game we're struggling quite a lot and hardest games still ahead of us. I honestly think supporters who are 'Ole Out' will believe but they need something to base their belief on.

Never in my life have I seen such an overreaction to a defeat. Ole has done a good job. Most of his buys have improved the team and there seems to be a good atmosphere at the club after historic gloom. He's been working miracles for the last two years with an average squad of players. The club is in the best position its been since Sir Alex retired. It doesn’t make sense talking about replacing him after 6 games into the season. At least wait until the end of the season to judge him.
Working miracles?!?! Can’t really see how you reach that conclusion, given the fact that United have spent more money than every club in Europe bar City.

This is where you find out, if being a Manchester United fan is, in you or just on you. These difficult periods when morale is low define the term "support".

Probably get downed for this but IDC. Being a red is "in me" first game was West Ham vs United away 01/02 (They recently put it up on their YouTube channel) My neighbour supported West Ham took me and I sat with the home crowd but as a 11 year old I didn't care. Been a fan since 92. Seen some great days and some horrible days.

I believe in this Manchester United.

OLE IN, red till the end.
I'm sorry but this is just terrible. Being a true supporter means you care about the club, it doesn't mean you need to have a specific opinion on something. You could love the club and think someone isn't doing a good job, just as you could love your country and criticize someone in office. This whole blind faith is cult like and could be really damaging to any institution. We're are all held accountable in our jobs and ole and the players are no different. If you think he's doing a good job then fine, you could be right, but to assume that any other opinion means questionable loyalty is just flat out wrong. Jesus.

Yeah sure, good points. I don't think he's a good manager all things considered.

His man management seems to be on point and it looks like he can build a squad, two things we were in desperate need of I'm sure you'll agree after the mess we were left by Moyes / Van Gaal and the Sour One.

Him and his team have done a great job cleaning up that torrent of shite and putting us back on track. Our squad right now is world class, and you've gotta give him his do's there.

On the other hand, tactically he doesn't seem up to much and his ingame management is passable at best, non existent at worst.

Were we owned by Abramovich I'm sure he'd be gone, and we'd probably win more as a result. But we aren't run like that and with our higher ups, who fecking knows who'd be brought in to replace him.

He should have done and be doing better. Loads of other managers would surely do better. I don't think he deserves the sack just yet.

He’d make a great DOF. His squad building has been very good, but he’s not good the coaching acumen to get the best out of the squad he’s built. Being a good man manager will only get you so far in the modern game, system is key & that’s where he flounders.

Yep, totally agree, unfortunately as I'd love it to work out for Ole. I think Potter would do a great job for what it's worth.

But had better midfield at that time. Fred and McTom would not be star players for us. Almost all teams destroy these two players.

Our team is suited for Zidane. He would do great with this team. We would be playing excellent football under him.
Conte would be also great. 2 easy choices.

It is not just today. Its a continuation. The Europa league final was poor and since then we have only played two good halfs. Leeds and Newcastle. And the first half against Newcastle was poor as well. We have been poor in most games this season.

It is a pragmatic style as well. Dont concede the first goal. Score the first goal through individual brilliance and then put the opposing team to bed when they have to come out and attack.

I reckon though we will do better in the next ten games against the better opposition. We are more suited to the counter attack.

@AjaxCunian what do you think of Ten Haag? Would he be a good fit or does he need to join a smaller club first(like Tottenham, Everton) before you can make the judgement?
Ten Hag is awesome. I feel like he's had quite some bad luck the past few years and sometimes the machine did stop working.

The Eredivisie is by no means the Premier League let's get that straight, but the football Ajax is currently playing, such dominant, attacking football, full of creating chances, suffocating opponents, only Bayern does that.

Ajax has a very good squad now, maybe better than during 18/19 (squad, XI is debatable). However the high Ten Hag has been able to achieve, the football, is something we'd never ever see under Ole even in the most favorable scenario.

Ten Hag would be my ideal candidate if Ole goes. Then Zidane. Then Conte.

I recall watching the semi CL against Spurs and i was so impressed by Ajax. Ajax should really have won.

Has it? We are buying expensive players with no game plan, it seems. Donny? A replacement for Pogba who decided to stay? 50m for a RB who is quite inept going forward. 80m for Maguire is hardly a steal. 180m for those 3 is not great business for any DoF.

Buying Sancho and not a top CDM is the most glaring mistake.

Bruno is a fantastic signing. Inheriting Pogba and Fred did not help of course.

Our midfield options the season we finished on 81 points were Pogba, Herrera, Matic, Fellaini & McTominay. Our midfield options now are Pogba, Fernandes, Fred, McTominay, Matic & van de Beek. I would argue they are better now. Ole doesn’t have to play 2 DMs & a 10, he could move away from a 4231 & get more out of his midfield.

Conte probably would win us a major title within one or two seasons. But he’s likely to ruin the good stuff done by Ole and the board over the past 3 years. Do we really want to go in the opposite direction for short term success?

Id much rather someone who builds on the foundation built by Ole but has the tactical ability to get the best out of this squad. Don’t have a clue who that is, if none available then keep ole unless if we seriously drop.

The smoothest transition would be Zidane.

I think Zidane is great, but he doesn't really employ principles of positional play. I would prefer a manager to employs those principles somewhat.

I think he's underrated tactically though.

Most of the positives Ole has, Zidane also has, while being more of a winner and more adept in general with adjustments.

Potter would be interesting. Brighton underperform consistently relative to their xG, because of the lack of star quality. I just don't know if we can afford that type of risk now. Maybe 2 years ago, it would have been better.
