What's people's aversion to Rodgers? Is it his personality or his coaching? I'm kind of ambivalent towards the possibility of him being here, to be honest. Can't say I'd be that enthused, but I do think he's a good manager.

Bring the Brentford guy who has a British name, sounds like he might be German, but isn't.

IMO you’ve got it more right than most.

OK so there’s a lot of hate being directed at the man but he has actually done a decent job since he’s been with you and what good would sacking him now do for anyone?
He’s maintained your position towards the top of the premier league and got some good results against big teams (especially us) during the process. I think the vitriol towards him is due to an expectation that you’ll win stuff, which is fair I suppose but it doesn’t mean that he’s not good at his job, it just means that he’s not been exceptional so far.

If I had a say in things then I’d keep him until the end of the season while interviewing and agreeing a start date for Conte or Zidane et al.
I don’t think either would want to jump in suddenly and take over a squad with so many older and / or static players in it because they’d want to put their stamp on the way you play and you simply can’t play modern high press football with your current squad.

I’d want the new manager to be introduced into the club in an observers role by early March, so that whoever it is can form relationships with the rest of your club management structure, and appreciate & identity what they need to change from day one of wearing the big hat.
That way you’d know who you need to pay off or sell and what kind of players you need to bring in, in the summer window, to play the expansive possession football that the likes of Conte / Zidane will insist on.

I don’t think that changing your manager right now has any logic because, despite some pantomime dame wailing from the childish and hysterical, you’ll finish in the top 4 if you don’t change anything and bringing your new man in now would signal to certain players that they’re not wanted, thus fermenting dissent for the rest of the season and possibly derailing the top 4 finish that Ole has already proven himself comfortable in achieving.

What does the Ole out crowd want to do - bring in Fat Sam tomorrow to save you from the relegation that certainly isn’t on the cards?
Cant believe im reading this from a City fan.

I've backed Ole for a long time, and while you do write some sense, it seems hes lost the dressing room completely and there is simply no coming back from that. Also, we wont finish top 4 if we keep this up. Hell, we'd be lucky to qualify for the Conference league at this point

Interesting (if true) the reports about him losing some of the players. The signs have been there in some of the games recently, though hadn't got any notion of it this season.

I wonder which players are for and against him?

He's just a bit too nice, plus his tactical limitations. Klopp I would imagine has the balance right with his players and you could imagine him tearing into them if under performing. Same with Sir Alex. Can you imagine Ole tearing into them?

Also his body language is so negative, a large portion of the game he was sat in his seat. Klopp, despite being 4 or 5 up, never left his technical area. What message does that send that he just sits in his seat despite the fact we are getting pummelled. I know he more passive but come along

Disagree. Any player or staff at Ajax would go to United tomorrow if offered a take it or leave it offer
Agree with you. As a manager, you can't reject an opportunity to have Man Utd squad to compete with Kloop, Pep and Tuchel in the same league and compete with other teams in Europe. You won a PL at the moment, you are surely labeled as top tier coach.

It's the Liverpool thing.

Wow, multiple clubs. Zidane won 3 champions league's in a row. Then won La Liga without Ronaldo in his second stint. Either way, looks like Zidane is out.
With the most expensive squad ever assembled at the time. So yeah, I would go for a manager that has done it at different clubs.

My personal favourite, tactically and in terms of man-management.
But he probably isn't the man for such a big club, fans, media etc.
For his teams to work out well, he needs patience and silence..

I'm thinking very hard wether to watch us vs City. My heart can't take another bashing. Liverpool was only in 2nd gear at 5-0 and took their foot off the pedal after that. But I think City will show us no mercy and go full force right from the start.

Ole has to go immediately, no ifs and buts. We can't even find any excuses at all. Apart from Varane's injury we have full strength. No dodgy decision from the refs. Liverpool didn't play out of their skin and luck was not a factor in the goals scored.

Who are Manchester United coaching staff?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has defended his coaching staff at Manchester United amid mounting scrutiny. Solskjaer entrusts Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna with overseeing the coaching sessions at United's Carrington training complex, which his assistant manager, Mike Phelan, does not get involved in.
So what does he do ?
Trying to burst balloons to keep the manager from falling asleep.

A lot of people here think Ole and bad coaching is really the only problem. They're in for a nasty shock once Ole goes and the penny drops. So keeping the penny from dropping is quite important to the Glazers' business model.

We're like a cancer patient who thinks their only problem is a nasty cough.

I'd say for can only be the ones who play no matter what and get chance after chance. Mctominay, Fred, Maguire, Shaw, AwB.

Took Hertha to a new level by getting rid of the old iron, even if they were quite popular. You often hear from former players that he was their favourite coach.
Could also bring the best out of difficult personalities like Balotelli, Xhaka etc.
But thanks for the great response, good arguments there!

If they sack Ole

They have to sack Mckenna, Carrick and Phelan (all extended their contract 1 week ago till 2024)

Mckenna, Carrick and Phelan Have the biggest responsibility

Ole doesn’t know nothing about tactics and coaching, they did all that (terrible) job
Did McCarrick extend?

I have some sympathy for those two. They are having to run the show whilst Ole and Shorts seemingly do sod all.

Which is reflected in the odds. We should absolutely be interested though.
Oh I think we will, at the end of the season. Same for the ajax dude.

I want conte as a stop gap, secure top 4, and look for someone long term in the mean time and appoint them in the summer.

Now, If he turns us around and wins the league or cl youll have to give him a contract of course.

Board are wary of hiring Conte. I'm sure this is not related to the style of play or anything. Rather than fact that Conte is the opposite of a yes man, and be would demand things in no uncertain for winning.
