Current favourite for the Golden Boot after 5 goals in Group stage, plays in Spanish 3rd division and mostly played right back in his career including stops at Middlesbrough & Birmingham City !

Not so sure about Morrocco. Equatorial Guinea, Cape Verde are at least as good in this tournament and I think people should keep an eye on these two as potential dark horses. I also think a lot are underrating Nigeria - joint best defence so far from a tough group, with a lot of individual potential match-winners in the squad.
Not seen enough of Nigeria to be convinced. Don’t think there as good going forward considering the attacking players they have.

They already were pretournament

Let's see if Morocco can live up to it tonight though, lots of surprises so far
Biggest surprise of the tournament is probably how bad Algeria have been.

They werent in the top 5 favourites pretournament based on the odds (Morocco, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Nigeria) but were expected to get out of the group

Ivory Coast surely the biggest surprise so far, although they can still qualify

Wild

Damn, poor Laurent Blanc will have no idea who to target for transfers now.

From what it is worth (anecdotal), I'm reading secondhand accounts that people in Ivory Coast are ashamed and done with that squad even if they can still qualify.

Good, I wish them 10 tournaments worth of misery

Some of these Tunisia tackles are red card worthy. Maybe it’s just RSA bias .

needs Tunisia to score to push the others into action

Two goalless draws and Tunisia is out.

Ivory Coast only remaining hope is that either Zambia or DR Congo lose their match. A possibility, but you never know.

Only Zambia. Congo doesn't matter.

Been no goalless draw all tournament until the last day of the group stages where we have 2 0-0s.

Can anyone shoot in this tournament? Every shot goes miles over the bar.

The whole of Ivory Coast were supporting Morocco and got what they wanted

Random seeing Avram Grant on the touchline

Morocco coach Regragui watched from the stands and is suspended for 4 matches after the argument with Mbemba

Morocco v South Africa next round @Annihilate Now!

Bit of a stretch to claim that with Cape Verde and Mauritania !
Why is it a stretch? I got curious and looked it up. Wikipedia says there is an official maritime frontier between the two countries, and a treaty signed in 2003.

Cape Verde has maritime boundarie/borders to the east with three countries: Senegal, Gambia, and Mauritania. Mauritania has terrestrial borders with Morocco (territory aka Western Sahara) and Algeria to the north, with Senegal to the south, and with Mali to the east and southeast, plus the aforementioned maritime one with Cape Verde
