This one is more for those of us who also follow the NBA and is not intended as a player bashing thread (looking for objectivity).
I've seen multiple comments here and there stating that Bruno is basically Russell Westbrook. A player that's held in high regard by coaches and other players, is capable of producing magically moments and goady stats, extremely hardworking and, will put it all on the line for the team but, whose career is littered with extremely erratic performances.
Curious to know if people think it's a fair comparison. If not, which player does it do a disservice to?
If you think it is a fair comparison, do you also see Bruno's career going the same trajectory as Russell's did?

Don't watch the NBA these days but Bruno definitely gives Lattrel Sprewell vibes (I'm guessing this guy is similar)

To be fair to Westbrook, I think he's better than Sprewell was. He won the regular season MVP, while averaging a triple double. Only player to ever do that I believe.

For those that don't follow the NBA, Russel Westbrook is an all time great athlete with a great motor who doesn't stop all game but who thinks he's better than he really is despite the gaudy stats and is prone to make crucial mistakes especially late in important games. I don't know if it's all that similar to Bruno but interesting comparison nonetheless seeing how both players seem higher regarded by their fellow professionals than the average spectator.

It’s a fair comparison in terms of their temperament but Russ at OKC had a period of a few years where he was as dominant as any player in the league so it was easier to over look his erratic nature. I can’t say the same for Bruno, outside of maybe his first 12 months, so he’s more difficult to tolerate.

I think they are very different players that only comparable in terms of their inner motor and ball dominance desire.

RW is more like Cristiano:
- both are very gifted athletes, jump very high, run very fast albeit only in one direction (Bruno does not have physical attributes other than stamina)

- very aggressive attackers, shoot, shoot, shoot even from bad spots (Bruno likes to share and he's more selective with his shooting)

- often do not need partners to score, at the same time they're prolific assistants but don't have natural playmaking ability (unlike Bruno)

- don't try that hard when playing defence (Bruno does not shy away from the hard work)

- obnoxious stat padders nevertheless undeniable all time greats (Bruno is few levels above them)

It sounds fair as a description of Bruno to me, the positives and negatives both ring true in my mind. I’ve never seen Westbrook play but heard the comparisons many times.

Struggle with this….either two of them are of the greatest to ever play the sport they play and one of them has no business being in the discussion or only one of them is of the greatest to ever play his sport and has no business being in the discussion.

One of the Portuguese shouldn’t be in the conversation….either way.

Not a CR7 fan, but you're doing him a disservice comparing him to Westbrook.

I am not into it that much, but isnt Jokic a triple double machine?

I associate personal stat-padding with Westbrook - I think Bruno is quite a team guy and thereby the comparison doesn’t ring true to me
