I never got how on hell people here thought that Man Utd do not need a player like Macca holding the ball and passing it like a metronome, plus the addition of many split defenses passes and a lot of bite that clearly Jurgen demands from him and he incorporated to his game.

Don't think Liverpool could have picked an easier team to play in the cup final in a few weeks time.
To stand any chance in that cup final Chelsea need to get rid of Poch and bring in someone that isn't tactically inept, can motivate and inspire players.

Yep, basically. Poch is a guaranteed win for the opposition team usually. He's the real reason we actually did end up with a CL and why we finally broke our long duck against Chelsea.

But this Liverpool attack is such a huge downgrade on Mane/Firminho/Salah. That part of the rebuild they kinda fecked up.

Midfield is whatever, they never had a fantastic midfield. Just workhorses replaced for other workhorses.
Our midfield last season:
Henderson(old), Fabinho( out of form),Oxlade, Keita, Milner(old), Arthur, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott
This season:
Szoboszlai, MacAllister, Endo, Curtis Jones( improved) Elliott( improved) Gravenberch( jury is out)
The midfield is better
Forwards went from the big three to Salah, Diaz, Jota, Gakpo, and Nunez. There are more goals in this forward line. I believe that losing Salah for a while has actually made us stronger in attack for the future. Jota, Diaz, Nunez, and Gakpo aren’t relying on Mo and are getting used to passing and moving with each other. When Salah gets back we will be a nightmare for defenses.
The back is better now also. Allison is the best goalie in the world, VVD is resembling his old self, Konate has turned into a top CB, Gomez is solid, Robertson will be back, Trent is Trent, and now we have a diamond in Bradley.
I don’t think back in November that Klopp thought we would be this good so quickly when he made his decision to leave. Let’s hope he changes his mind.

Klopp won't be able to take the pressure to retain the trophies he wins this year. The "greatest manager" ever has never done that in his 9 years.

Well, much like us in 21/22, or right now even, almost no one looks even half-decent at Chelsea right now. Maybe Palmer, but no one else comes to mind for me, other than him. That doesn't mean that their players suddenly forgot everything they've learned and practiced about football before joining them. We are also actually a good example of misusing our players after signing them.

Caicedo would likely be doing way better at Liverpool, City or Arsenal, had he joined one of those clubs instead. I think he would be better at United, as well. The same way that I think Hojlund would be on 15+ goals at least, had he joined Arsenal or City and got the same amount of minutes that he's played for us so far (hypothetical scenario, obviously, since that wouldn't be possible due to Haaland at City).

The most important thing for players is the environment the play in. Are there any players out there, who will do well no matter the tactical setup and teammates around him?
Ya that's all fair. I wouldn't say there are players that would do well absolutely regardless of the set up but in terms of paying high money for players, like 105m for caceido, I think the very best players will achieve a certain level of performance better than caceidos if in a remotely competent set up

I was comparing it to the title winning team to be fair. Don’t see it as positive, which is not to say it is awful or anything. But I think more than anything Klopp is the driving factor for this team and with most other manager they wouldn’t be title contenders.

That forward line, without Salah, is not worldclass and should be bench options to be honest. Mane and Firminho were so much better and that trio felt a lot more dangerous.

The midfield like I said: bunch of workhorses, albeit a bit more technical compared to the previous one.

Agree with the backline being fine. But think Liverpool would do well to improve up front, especially if Salah leaves. A better striker would add so much more to your game. Nunez ain’t it.

Spot on.
Klopp has this team performing miracles. Without him, this team is a top 8 team at best. Can't wait when he finally goes!

We will be struggling for top four once he's gone. :(

Nah. I think the squad will only get stronger. Salah will be sold in the summer and most likely fund more players. We do need a mgr who will develop players though. One that isn’t just about strategy and gets players to be motivated and learning every week. From what I’ve read from players quotes Alonso is that man.
You don’t worry about us now, just worry about your main rivals…..Wolves and Brighton. ;)

Hey! Hey!

Leave Alonso alone :nono:

If Salah is indeed sold, you’d do well to invest in the attack more than anything. Depending on the next manager, I wonder if Liverpool could maybe switch to a 442 given the midfielders are forward thinking as well.

Just don’t waste the money on another Nunez or Gakpo or whatever. Still think with Klopp gone it’s going to be very tricky.

Be happy with club legend Raul please. We need Alonso whereas you lot will be fine with anyone decent.

If you think Alonso is going to step into Klopps shoes and things are going to carry on as it is, you are deluded.

Enjoy the ride, it's all coming to an end my friend.

I remember when Liverpool fans were saying the same things about Fergie... Someone like Alonso will be given the time and patience as no one expects anyone to fill Klopps shoes, but once he settles then I don't see any reason why he wouldn't succeed with the relative riches he will have at he's disposal compared to what he inherited and Built in Germany in a short amount of time.

But yeah I get the fear Utd fans have experienced while Kloppo has been at Liverpool, and equally get the want for Pool to drop to mediocrity.

Absolute mare from Badiashile today unfortunately.
He's taken a big step back this season compared to the composed and rock solid defender he was last season. I guess injuries and inconsistent playing time isn't helping him but he definitely looks nervy and shaky when he gets a chance this season.

I have no idea how West Ham are 6th. Everytime I watch them they’re awful. What are the tactics in this game. JWP wide left? Why are they playing Alvarez, Phillips AND Soucek.

That's odd. That excuse doesn't seem to work for any other club on here.
What's your point?

You asked how we've only scored 26 goals after playing a good half of football and I said it's because we have been poor this season. Are you WUMming?

Oh I thought you were repeating what Pexbo said about injuries with your comment.

Tongue in cheek comment but clubs face bad luck with injuries sometimes. With the attacking talent United have, you should have more than 26 goals. But I guess you all know that anyway.

Oh and that penalty decision was laughable. Once the ref gives it VAR refuses to overrule. Ridiculous.
