Nope.

The world cup is not a high standard anymore.

The likes of Harry Maguire and Sofyan Amrabat looked like world beaters at the world cup!

Consider what Messi and Ronaldo had achieved at club level by the age of 25. Mbappe is not even close!
They didn't do anything at a not high standard world cup at that age though.

Ultimately, If you want to be considered a top European player in this day and age, you need to be showing it in either the Premier League, La Liga or the Bundesliga at a push.
Considered by whom? I'm pretty sure finishing in Ballon d'Or's top 10 every year since 2017 is indicative of being considered a top european player.

By anybody that knows anything about football!

The Ballon d'Or's a farce. If Mbappe suffered a career ending injury tomorrow, would you honestly say he'd had a top club career?

I think that's an unfair measuring stick. For a good tournament run the stars need to align and it didn't happen for Messi and Cristiano at that point in time. Cristiano for instance played an EC final in 2004 although he was still far away from his prime. You could argue that Mbappe was a better player than those two at 17 and 18 but development isn't linear and for what it's worth, his improvement curve wasn't as steep as theirs. Especially Messi exploded at 19/20 in a way Mbappe never did. At the end of the season he turned 26 (this season for Mbappe), Messi had already won four Ballon D'Ors and had already played his 91 goals and 28 assists calendar year. Mbappe really is nowhere near, unfortunately.

Neither played for a stacked favorites team like MBappe did.
Not that I think they were better teams but Argentina was 2nd favorite according to odds before the tournaments in 2006 and 2014 (this specific year probably mainly due to Messi to be fair) from what I can gather. France was 4th in 2018.

Nobody has said that Mbappé is anywhere near the level of Messi at the same age anyway, I think the poster you are quoting is just highlighting how singling out a competition's performances can make for a very biased argument.

Aah Real Madrid, you have to admire their brand.
Nothing to be admired with this saga. Bending over time and time again, never did this to this degree for any other player.

And it will be rather funny and sad when we get news of another extension

I don't understand why Madrid is so eager to sign him. He can't play in the same team as Vinicius and I'm not even sure he's an upgrade on him. Moreover, Mbappe said himself that he likes to play off a target man and the only striker option they have in their squad right now is Joselu.

He’s better than anyone Madrid have and comfortably so.

Hes not on messi or Ronaldo's level and his club impact is nowhere near those two either so yes I do find it annoying.
Nobody is though.

He's the best of this new generation. He'd be huge for any team that gets him.

We won't be seeing Messi or Ronaldo (and definitely not both at the same time) again for a little while yet I think, they're two of the top 5/10 ever.

Where has he been playing recently, seems to be the likes of Barcola Dembele and Asensio flanking him going by LiveScore etc but haven’t seen the games
Luis Enrique rotates his lineups heavily, but from the top of my head I'd say he's been starting more games from the center, often drifting to the left. Animation depends on who he is playing with: with Kolo Muani, they'd swith positions quite often between LW and CF, while Barcola would very rarely move from LW as he's very active defensively.

I'd assume a Vinicius / Mbappé partnership would see them switch positions quite often.

He may have some big numbers and the incognita of who (Bellingham, Vini or him) will be the leader.
Rodrygo seems to be slipping out of the pack.
Beyond the sporting or commercial aspect, Madrid (the president specifically) wants to sign him for the "we are Madrid and sooner or later we get what we want". Quite late in this case.

Is he not worth it?
We have left other positions unattended because of this obsession. We are literally playing without a striker and lucked out Jude is making things happen up front. Not to mention we already have Vini who at this point I’d argue is just as good. Different story if we didn’t have him. And on top of all that: I see it likely this going not as expected.

Dunno, I honestly still believe he will extend. How often have players taken a pay cut at that level? Think he will extend and we will see if Endrick can make it.

Well it appears our own players are the thirstiest for him, so, that probably solves whatever wprry about his impact in the dressing room, including wages...

Maybe we will sign him afterall...sigh

A lot of people don't want him anymore after the first time he rejected the team. He's making a lot of money in PSG and no other team is going to match that, at least not Real Madrid. Like you said right now the squad doesn't really need a player of his profile, I'd rather we sign a freaking striker and some defenders ffs!

Is he not worth it?
No, he's not.

I really hope he stays at PSG and never wins the CL. Am I being petty? Maybe but this transfer "saga" is up there with the most boring ones ever.

He needs to move to Real.

Not even because of Ligue 1, but because PSG are just much worse in general than Real and they've declined a lot lately.

Mbappe is nowhere near Messi. Even if he breaks World Cup records, he simply doesn't possess the natural talent Messi has.

However, if he does go to Real and has similar levels of production as he did at PSG(and continues his CL excellence). And he also continues his current World Cup trajectory, you can argue for him over Ronaldo.

The disrespect people have for Ronaldo is unbelievable, people come out saying how Messi and Ronaldo isn't close, is just fooling themselves. I don't like Ronaldo, never did since he left us the first time, but he is one of the best ever and he proved it at multiple clubs in multiple leagues and internationally. Messi is great as well, I'm not going to argue about whos best etc, it's done to death and people are entitled to their opinions, but the two are brilliant. Messi I would agree is definitely the more naturally gifted and Ronaldo is more athletic along side god gifted talent.

Mbappe still has a million miles to go to reach Messi or Ronaldo and IMO he doesn't look good enough or consistent enough for it. I'm not even sure he'll be the best of his generation let alone be talked about up with the Ronaldo's and Messi's of the world

I chose "Saga" because the topic comes up every summer. He could just commit to PSG or say he's leaving. But he's been vague about it for years, keeping his options open to extract the maximum money from PSG. They are letting it happen to themselves as he is bigger in France than the club. That the Qatari ego plays along is the only amusing part. Otherwise it's boring because it feels like it's been going on for 5 years.
