He played left back and right back and pocketed Elanga on both sides. He's incredibly versatile, two footed, can overlap or go central. He has brain farts but he's a quality modern full back who keeps improving

I like him. Always available and fit, athletic, team player, consistent, etc. He's not nearly the disaster some on here make him out to be.

Yeah if he cuts out those lapses he can be a really top player. For now he's a big part of our future.

There was one moment towards the end of the first half when Forest played a ball into their inside left channel, Dalot was rushing back towards his goal, striker closing in, ball coming fast and he took an amazing first touch, Shaw couldn't have done it better, looked like a major problem about to occur.

And that's probably enough for him to be our player of the season this year.

It certainly puts him into a very narrow group for players that are even in contention. I suppose it will come down to who of Dalot, Garnacho and Højlund finishes the season strongest. They are the three players in contention, in my opinion.

Best player on the pitch. Player of the season. He's oozing confidence.

His crossing has improved. Defensive positioning improved. If he cuts the brain farts he will be a top class fullback.

He seems to me to be one of our most elegant players, but gets absolutely slated on here - but I think he's good enough.

The reality is that many here slating him just simply don’t know what they are talking about. Dalot has already become one of the best fullbacks in the league.

I'm starting to really like this guy. He's one of the few players in the squad that plays with proper intensity. He continues to make overlapping runs, thus creating space for other attackers. He sprints back into position. This isn't just physical. In the past he would often jog back and not follow his attackers. Now, he's playing with confidence and much higher intensity levels. He's also rapid, able to take on his man, good at linking up play, bringing the ball centrally at times and starting to show a little bit of flair. Like it!

Another solid performance. The amount he has improved is great, shows he really is working hard. Bossed the right back role then did the same on the left and got the winning free kick.

I agree, fundamentally it’s his attitude making him make use of his attributes well. One moment in the second half, Onana has the ball and Dalot sprints back to his wide right to potentially receive the ball. He didn’t get it but that little moment highlights the effort he puts in and that other players in our squad simply do not!

He starts because he is just far better than AWB, even defensively. He has improved a lot and now is arguably one of the better RB in the league. AWB is not even in the top 5 English RB.
Did you get a receipt for those blinkers?

I think he's excellent to be honest. He makes the odd mistake but so does pretty much every player.

He's got everything - Pace, Technique, Workrate, Decent in the air, can pass, cross, two footed, Stays fit (Touch wood)

Maybe the only thing that lets him down is defensive positioning occasionally but in general I really like him. He's only 24 so coming in to his peak years.

Yeah I noticed that too - he's very active in making himself available for a pass. The great thing about that is that he shows himself as being unselfish. He doesn't even expect to get the ball, but he creates space in the center of the pitch. The work he puts in there is actually very important. I think you are spot on about his attitude - he is much more committed. If I'm not mistaken, I think he was one of few who listened intently to Ronaldo for advice on how to take care of his body etc...

Thought the same - he does have a leadership quality about him. He's quite vocal. He's often the first to motivate others, give them a high five etc. And, he leads by example.
Yep it comes naturally to him. Nice to see his game evolving and maturing now. Kudos to ETH and his team. I might be critical of how he setups but he has definitely developed some of the players as individuals

He’s become a real ‘first name on the team sheet’ type of player this season. Good on him. Shows what hard work can do.

My MOTM. He's having a good season.

With his general level, fitness and young age (he's just 24!), the RB position is no longer a priority in the transfer market. I'd honestly sell Shaw before him at this point.

Agreed.

Shaw is never fit. I'd be happy to sell AWB as well and get a cheaper back up in for Dalot.

He has the potential to become one of the best RBs around - I think he's closing in on that already if he can continue his level this season consistently.

ETH has developed a few players quite well, for sure, and it was nice to see a tactical change that worked as well. Moving Dalot to the left when Elanga was moved there was very clever. Dalot is also very versatile as he has two good feet and excellent technique. Many have mentioned that he could play RW, as he possibly could, but his engine is very suited to the fullback role. I think he would do well as a DM as well, but his pace would be a little wasted there.

I cannot undersand those that argue we need to keep Shaw. He's had one great season for United. The rest have been mostly up and down and riddled with injuries. Time to let go and improve the position. Even if we don't get one as good in terms of top level, as Shaw has a very high ceiling, having a more consistent player will benefit the team.

The improvement and potential was there in the first half of last season, starting with the Liverpool game at home. I know he started quite a few games under Ralf the year before-who seemed to prefer him to AwB- but i wasn't really seeing it with him until last season. He still has frustrated a number of times this season but he's getting more and more consistent and he never seems to be injured.

Our POTY in a pretty pathetic season looks like a straight choice between him and Hojlund.

This is a good point and it's maybe an area that I've been a little less vocal on about ETH, he has helped to develop a number of our young players

While I have my reservations about Ronnie, Dalot is one of the sole names (Even excluded his countryman Bruno) who Ronnie said had an absolute dedication and professionalism about him but I think talk of captaincy is a bit early, every last captain of our team have seen their performances decline sharply, Bruno last season was great, given captaincy and fallen off, same with Maguire who now looks far better without that burden.

I’m not saying give it to him now, he needs to nail that starting place. But at some point in the future I think it will come to him. He’s a natural

He's really grown this season...always seemed to have promise but couldn't put it together. Hopefully there's plenty more room for continued development but he's one of the bright spots this season.
