I can either take 3x -4s to field 10 in GW29 (no GK) and this assumes Porro / Solanke will be fit and no injuries and I would probably WC in GW31... or I can do an uninspiring FH in GW29.

Either way feels shit.

So for this GW transfers should I go
- Garnacho to Bowen or Barkley ? and
- Dubravka to Kaminski or Areola?
to build for a decent GW29 without FH

Week 29 is the literal definition of why to use a free hit.
It'll just make the variation in teams utterly minimal.

Got to be a FH week - even if you can get close to a full XI with a few hits, you aren't going to want any of that dross long term
The whole point is to use the wildcard straight after in 30 or 31. Spurs, Villa and West Ham all have some of the best fixture schedules at the moment as well.

I'm in limbo now with Areola, Doughty, Porro, Bowen and Watkins plus 3 flagged players. Am actually gonna look at wildcarding early maybe to sort it out. If there's any indication that Salah will play v Forest that could be the catalyst for it. I'd then FH in 29.

Will be looking to take -4 hits every week till GW29..so that gives me 5/6 players to get it. I currently have 4. I am looking at entering the GW29 with 9 or max 10 players. GK i might sacrifice.

So for this GW transfers should I go
- Garnacho to Bowen or Barkley or Son? (I already have Richalison) and
- Semedo to Reguilon

Next GW, I can think about removing KDB or Ake and Solanke, depending on his injury news

Hmmm.

GW 27 Wildcard to maximise 28 and avoid FH in 29 would probably look something like this...

Neto Areola
Gabriel Saliba Doughty Senesi Udogie
Son Richarlison Bowen Saka Barkley
Haaland Watkins Solanke (if fit)

  • Morris in for Haaland in 28 to give you 6 doublers.
  • Toney in for Solanke in 29. 10 players.
  • Salah back in 30.
  • Haaland back in 31.
You could then ignore 34 (as you'd be using FH there) and build for BB in 37.

Captains ...

27 Haaland
28 Solanke
29 Toney, Son or Watkins?
30 Salah

As it stands I have only 4 players for GW29, I'm so far off any decent team that it's got to be FH for me

I guess some might be closer to a full XI so could ride it out to save the chip

Option of early WC could work but seems like too much planning ahead required

I just laid out a potential wildcard and on the contrary I don't think there's much planning needed. Use your transfers between 29 and 37 to get to a BB you like and you can ignore 34 as you have FH in your pocket. I'm seriously considering it as it would save me -8/12 in hits the next few weeks and give me a few extra dgw players. Also allows me to ditch the likes of Estu, Porro, Trippier, Doku, Hwang, Dubravka who are stinking out my team.

Well now that you have done all the hard work, I'm thinking about it!

Should mention that Im one of the few who didn't use TC so I'll be using it on a DGW

Yeah need to find out what's going on with Solanke and Salah in particular before making a decision either way.

I have 4x players for GW29. Even if I only used the available FTs on eligible players for gw29 (and that would mean no Bournemouth players for their double), I'd need to take -16 to get a full XI.

I don't see that as preferable to just using FH in 29?

To those who plan on using FH in 29:

- How many extra fixtures will a FH give you?
- Do you still have your WC available?
- Arsenal and City clash in 30 so no biggie not owning too many of them then.
- Spurs and Villa both have great fixtures in 30, even Fulham and West Ham have decent fixtures.
- Hard to see how this will be a big week points wise no matter what 11 you field. Not the biggest upside.

The most likely doublers in 34 are Everton, Bournemouth, CP and SHU.
- How many of those will you own without a FH in 34? Probably 1-2 players max
- With a FH in 34 you can probably get 8-11 fixtures more than the non FH'ers. Potentially a much bigger upside than in GW29.

Which stragety will save you/earn you more points?
I guess the important squestion is: Will fielding 7'ish players (probably including the biggest haul potential players like Son, Watkins, Bowen, Rich...) be worse for you than fielding 8-11 less fixtures than your rivals in GW34?
The most important point here is that there might not be enough point potential in these 4 matches to chase a decent upside with a FH vs. the non freehitters.

Just asking questions.

Tinkering with bench boost in gw37 in mind as that’s the main one to target to get the most points I believe.

I think this is my strategy:

7-8 players without a free hit in gw29 - getting the vital ones

saving a transfer or two in gw30+31

gw32 fixtures change for many of the players you’d have in a no-FH gw29 team, so using saved transfers for tinkering their to ride the fixtures. Maybe take a hit here.

gw34, possible freehit, but Id rather wait.

gw 35 Wilcard to a team that’ll do well in both gw35 and 37+38

freehit gw36

in gw37 im throwing the bench boost chip with something like this. (See below). That team would be well suited for gw38

If you could field 7 in week 29 you're probably right.
I have 1 player so even with a hit I'd be on 4.

But the players I'd bring in I may not want beyond 29 anyway.

Why are so many reluctant to use the FH in GW29? Surely that’s the best time to use it?
Depends on your squad. If you've just got Watkins then sure but when you're half way there why use it in what is traditionally a very low scoring GW when you can use it later in a double which gives you a much chance of a bigger score.

Template FH team is something like

Flekken
Reguillon Doughty Porro/Udogie
Bowen Luis Son Richarlison
Awonyi Watkins Toney

If you already own Watkins, Toney, Son, Rich, Bowen (which many will) who of those other players are you really worried about? Luiz if he has another worldie like last week maybe.

I'm actually finding this fun because there are a variety of strategies opening up now and so we won't just get a herd consensus.

Yeah makes sense. I guess I was looking at it from my perspective where I’ll defo need to use it as I’ve only got 3 players available.

Has to be for me. I have two players that play that week. Not a chance I’m taking hits to bring in players for that game week. Some automatically look at the fixtures and think it’ll be a rubbish week, but thats not guaranteed, for example how did that work out for the majority of people that wasted the TC on ‘dead cert’ Haaland the other week? Nothing is a given in the game and sometimes it’s easy to overthink things and overplan.

I honestly think it’ll be easier to get players in for the doubles in 37 or wherever else they drop in the future. As somebody with all 4 chips left I’m not sure I want to not play my FH in 29 and go into the last 8 gmws with all 4 over thinking where to play what.

free hit 29 and then focus on where to play the TC. Bench boost is less stress and wildcard can fit in easily.

I've just brought in Son regardless of what I decide. He's gonna go up tonight and Porro is gonna drop. Bus team now is

Areola
Trippier Gabriel Doughty
Son Saka Foden Bowen
Solanke Watkins Haaland

Subs: Dubs, Estupidman, Hwang, Porro

I think gw29 might be worth riding out even if you can only get 4 players out. I'd rather have fh for a double I think. Better than a team full of crap getting 1or 2 points.

Only thing putting me off at moment is the unknowns around Richarlison/Solanke and the very real chance that going without Foden this week is a bad idea.
Yeah but surely you can delay and WC in GW28 and navigate this week with a transfer, which will also give info on Richarlison and Solanke?

I'm already on a -4

Did Darwin and Doku to Son and Solanke.

But yeah in principal you're right. It can wait to 28 even though I need Solanke to play this week in either scenario.

Who is this? For me it's either take -12 to field 10 in GW29, FH GW29 or WC in GW28. The latter seems the best option.
How would the wildcard week 28 look? Knowing a tonne load of the main players don't play in 29?
Have 4 of them on the bench?

With Raptor’s plan (and mine) you can field 11 doublers in 34 when it’s likely City, Chelsea and Liverpool blank, and potentially BB in 37 with 15 doublers from good teams. Using your WC and/or FW now will make it a lot harder to navigate through 34 (when the good teams blank and bad teams double)
