He's been one of the better players over the past couple of months. But what I like about him is the passion he shows when he celebrates a goal or the defenders clear their lines. Very few in our squad show that kind of passion

I've slaughtered him all season but his performances have improved dramatically in the last month, signing a right back was of huge importance a few months ago but if he keep this form up then we don't need a new first choice one.

Nahh, he's hit an extra gear in the last couple of months but he's been consistently one of our better players all season.

He starts because he is just far better than AWB, even defensively. He has improved a lot and now is arguably one of the better RB in the league. AWB is not even in the top 5 English RB.
Wan Bissaka has been injured for a while to be fair. Dalor lost his place to Wan Bissaka in the 2nd half of last season, so there wasn't that much between them. Dalot's been better this season especially post Xmas.

If we could find 4-5 more Diogos we could go somewhere. Strong, quick, good attitude, technical. If we had AWB back we could use him in midfield.

I was thinking this the other day, what makes him a potentially special player is that he’s at least a 7/10 in all attributes. He has rarely put all of these together into elite performances, but has continued to steadily improve over time. He still has potential to develop into one of the very best in his position in my opinion, with the attributes he’s got.

I agree. I feel like part of our biggest issue is our best players are either technical or athletic. Technical would be players like Bruno, Eriksen, (even Mainoo currently). Athletic/physical would be players like Casa, Maguire, Varane etc. We have very few players who can do both and have the right technical skills as well as elite athletic ability. This is something that City have always maintained with players like De Bruyne, Haaland, Bernardo, Foden who not only have brilliant technical ability, but they can work, they are strong on the ball etc.

I agree with your overall point but are we really calling haaland a particularly technical player (other than his shooting technique)?

Thought he had a good game today. Doku got nothing from him and was subbed. Then switched over to the left to handle Foden who himself was switched over to the left away from Dalot where he eventually scored.

Him and Mainoo are the only two I watched today who could have put on a blue shirt and not looked out of place. Thought he was excellent especially with some of his carrying.

Very good performance. His runs into the oppo box are fun to watch given that defenders aren't expecting him to do much on the ball. One of these days he's going to find the net with one of these runs.

He's done well and is capturing that pre world cup form last season. Not sure if it's temporary or not. It's weird he's been with us six years, where he's gone out on loan but then again hes gonna turn 25 this month, so maybe it's clicking for him?

He's one of the only players who doesn't shit themselves under the tiniest bits of pressure and realises you can still make simple passes without too much fuss.

Another very good game from a player that has shown fantastic improvement. On track to be our player of the season and considering our strategy was to defend deeper, it brought him into a direct duel with Jeremy Doku who he had no issue with as evidence by the clip below.

Very good performance again. Thought he dealt with Doku really well til he was subbed off and then we switched him over to deal with Foden who moved away from him then to get at Kambwalas side when he came on. Don't think anyone had any real joy against him

We should keep him for now, has the right mentality, not good enough to be a superstar by his own but could be a useful servant in a team that's performing.

Player of the season so far and hopefully he continues in this fashion for rest of the season. I kinda feel we have 2 solid players for RB position in him and AWB. Should probably keep Dalot and sell Wan Bissaka and use some of that money on new RB.

He didn't 'shut down' his side of the wing but did more than enough to close off any real penetration or threat on his side with patient, physical and mature defending.

Carried and passed the ball well a few times. Not his best game but considering our game plan and possession, it was a solid performance, again showcasing his growth and potential.

Only player who outplayed his direct opponent. Fitter than anyone else on the team.

Thought he was really good again. One of the few players who is capable of keeping the ball. Carries if out of players slick passes really nicely.

He was also excellent defensively.

MotM by a clear distance.
Really impressed with him this season, seems to have got a lot faster than he used to be as well.

Having a great season. Probably the player of the year at this point.

One of the few positives lately.

Suddenly left back, and not RB, is the priority in the summer

One of the few players with composure passing/driving the ball forward.
Lindelof was a stark contrast to him

The commentators on Danish TV yesterday called him "one of the very best right backs around" or something to that effect, which I thought was a bit over the top. But he is proving to be a good player, and one of the few starting players I'm comfortable with these days.

It's easy to forget he was brought in as a teenager. He's really just been following a fairly normal progression as a footballer.

He's one of our few players you could see actually fitting in at top teams.

And imagine if they filled his head with a brain too!

That's obviously in jest, but really his big weakness is the random dozy shit he does... which you feel like could be coached out of him.

Very good performance. Defended very well, and it sticks out so much when you see a United player who can just handle the ball under pressure to the required level.

Another 'quiet' but solid performance from him. Didn't go up that much but a steady presence on the right channel on/off the ball and defensively sturdy.
I thought he was brilliant, didn’t falter defensively and maybe our most press resistant player? Love his little feints in midfield where the opposition thinks he’s going backwards and then he moves forwards and creates space.

Id go as far as saying he might be our player of the season? I really like him at this moment, and I absolutely do not think we need a RB anymore.

Don't disagree with any of that tbh. I've been quite a vocal supporter of him last and especially this year, even calling him our best player way early in the season (when he was getting slammed for basically not being Alves), so I always try to be a bit more reserved with my comments.

His drag-back-feint-turn thing is quite funny. It's so basic and even unorthodox looking but he performs it with maximum efficiency, which gets him out of a tight spot to then open up the entire pitch. Things like these are so underrated and not picked up on much like you have.

He was very good at spells last years but this season he is our most consistent player. RB is one of the few positions we don't need to look for reinforcements in the summer.

He has gotten very good at muscling people off the ball, he had a few 'child, please' moments today.

He’s currently one of the few players in our squad that are able to combine physical and technical abilities.
It’s very nice to see how he progressed in the last couple of years
