Thanks for the team update, poor return from myself, average rating was decent but no one wants me :confused:

Something terrible happened to @LARulz, he was sold to Spurs for 5M
Oh feck me. What the hell man, is this a joke?

My journeyman career starts now. I will end up playing a max 15 games for them in 2 years and be sold off to Norwich. Joke. I am actually fuming. I want to sack my agent

Come on Schalke, save my career from this dickhead manager playing me out of position.
First match of the season and you got a 1 month injury, no chance of a transfer now.

You're not listed for loan anymore and played in the first match, so maybe you're in the manager's plans.

It's the sad reality. Bayern got Ballack and Deisler and sold you to Spurs and your midfield partner Jeremies to Arsenal.

When they listed you for sale Spurs and Barcelona were interested...

Still, is it worth it?
I dunno, judging by pictures both Middlesbrough and Newcastle seem like places to avoid. When you google Newcastle you only get pictures of a bridge from a gazillion different angles, so assume that's the most interesting thing about the city.

But at least I'm used to Newcastle by now, and they don't even expect me to do any work for my pay.

(I've never actually been to Middlesbrough, just seen a documentary once and based on that, it's mostly just... grey and boring)

If you play for Middlesbrough you don't live in Middlesbrough, you would live in North Yorkshire, a lot of the Middlesbrough players lived in or around Harrogate.

August 30, 2002 - U21 Friendly - England v Belgium

You're all a year older, so only 4 caf players remain in the u21 squad: @Stobzilla @K Stand Knut @AbusementPark and @Siorac. All the first XI.

Not a good start, Belgium scores in the early minutes.

Peter Crouch to the rescue! 1-1 England

@Siorac scores from a corner, England ahead!

66 min

@AbusementPark is replaced by Matt Taylor

FT: England 2-1 Belgium

@Siorac scored the winner and was POTM!

@Withnail handed in a transfer request. United bought Ehiogu and Thuram and has been playing with 3 center backs, so @Withnail has had no minutes. Let's see where he'll end up.

After the disaster that was the last qualifying campaign, England is back to try and earn their spot in the Euro 2004. The first opponent is in theory the most difficult one: Belgium

Aug 31, 2002 - Euro Qualifier - England v Belgium

Some changes in the squad, starting with the keeper, Andy Marshall, who is the sub keeper at Ipswich:confused:

@anant and @Dr. Dwayne got the spots of @Ian Reus and @golden_blunder

@Skizzo is injured, I assume he'll be back instead of Butt

Bowyer relegated @whitbyviking to the bench, quite the surprise.

The usual strikers, @BenitoSTARR and @nimic (who wasn't even called) gave way to @paulscholes18 and @TrustInOle

@oneniltothearsenal
@Hephaestus
@anant
@Dr. Dwayne
@youngrell
@P-Nut
@paulscholes18

Bench

@Mr Pigeon
@BenitoSTARR

Stands

@Herman Toothrot
@LARulz
@Cheimoon
@Withnail
@Peter van der Gea
@pacifictheme
@Ian Reus
@OptimisedRed

Uneventful first half, Belgium had zero shots, England only 2 off target.

@youngrell was replaced by @Mr Pigeon during the break.

69 min, the manager recognized the error of his ways and took off Lee Bowyer, @whitbyviking comes on.

That was fast, @whitbyviking scores, assisted by @P-Nut

81 min

@paulscholes18 was replaced by @BenitoSTARR

FT: England 1-0 Belgium

Great start, @P-Nut was POTM

Greece 3-0 Slovakia

Next England is going to Greece

No doubt I would've been POTM if I had started. Something for the manager to ponder over his pie and beans.

I’m following this even though im not involved. I love these CM experiments. Gutted I missed this thread when it started.

I’ll never forgive @oneniltothearsenal for losing his save of his legends FM database experiment. He did end up taking it pretty far, but we spent so long doing the player draft etc., and I was so invested. Then he had an infamous “the dog ate my homework” moment, when he said his hard drive failed. I still claim victory.

Glad to see I was captain for the last match and I'll take full credit for the superb win. Sure it was @whitbyviking who got the goal and sure it was @P-Nut who got MOTM but I think my leadership skills were the real difference. And sure, I only got a 6, but that just shows my willingness to sacrifice personal achievement for team success.

I expect the knighthood is in the post already.

Despite good league form it seemed I have been pretty mediocre for England so I owed that one to the lads. Getting dropped for Bowyer, of all people, is a bit of a kick to the Travellers though. Glad to finally step up for the lads, and happy for @Hephaestus to have the armband going forward as it enables the rest of us to concentrate on our game.
