Don't disagree with any of that tbh. I've been quite a vocal supporter of him last and especially this year, even calling him our best player way early in the season (when he was getting slammed for basically not being Alves), so I always try to be a bit more reserved with my comments.

His drag-back-feint-turn thing is quite funny. It's so basic and even unorthodox looking but he performs it with maximum efficiency, which gets him out of a tight spot to then open up the entire pitch. Things like these are so underrated and not picked up on much like you have.
Absolutely! His quasi midfield role has made me appreciate how good he is more so. He doesn’t lose the ball much and is often under pressure. Deceptively fast and also has added crossing to his arsenal too.

Id say:
Onana
Dalot
Martinez
Mainoo
Garnacho
Hojlund

Are all players I want us to tie into long contracts and have as main stays.

He’s become an accomplished and excellent right back. It’s great to see. Regular playing time has really helped his game.

He’s having his best season so far for us . Probably our player of the season so far just ahead of Garnacho.

Again don't disagree with that list. On paper and from what we've seen, that's a good profile of players with different attributes. Still lacking in some physicality so the players not on this list need to have that but overall, the most important thing is still the coaching. I've said it a few times but I do worry about players like Dalot/Garnacho burning out from now until the end of the season; a big part their game is about stretching themselves (athletically) and the opponents (space). I know we only have one game a week but the way we play football is not sustainable, not to mention shite.

Him and Garnacho are the only players from today's lineup who I would comfortably put in my starting 11 in August of next season. Been superb and actually improved upon what he served last year. Great fullback.

He's been pretty much solid since he grew into his frame, his development in other aspects has been quite a sight to behold. Did Ronnie have a positive impact on him?

Jose was right about him and his potential. If the team doesn’t progress in the next 12-18 months, Madrid will be tapping him to replace Dani Carvajal.

It seems to be easily forgotten that only Onana was worse than him in our Champions League campaign, he made some colossal errors, the Zaha goal when we played Galatasaray is the one that I can't get out of my mind when he was so easily muscled out.

He's no way near that good, he's okay but has so much in his game that it is mediocre. It's so easy to stand out in our team by just being an average ball-carier but no top side would take him, his output and threat is not good enough and he's mediocre defensively. Same applies for Luke Shaw, any top club would have replaced him properly years ago.

I love how mature he has become. If he was in Pep's side, he would've thrived. Such an improvement since last year.

Think he has definitely looked more like the full back at Porto which Mourinho signed

For me this just shows if you have pace and athleticism you always have a chance of succeeding in the EPL if you’re willing to work hard. It’s the same reason Antony won’t succeed, his position requires the same and whilst he works hard he doesn’t have the other physical attributes to succeed.

That might be true for a fullback, not for a Winger. I also don't don't think it's physical attributes with Antony. It's his footballing brain. Players that can't dribble, know when to release a pass and know how to execute it. He is not capable of any of these things, nor does he realize what his weaknesses are so that he can adapt his game to play to his strengths. It's baffling to me that he is not working on his right leg crossing. If you want to be unpredictable, you have to do that. You can only get away going always to the left if you are Roben. He can't beat a man around the 16-yard box, which to me is crucial for a PL winger, he doesn't have a cross in him, and he doesn't have a pass in space(i.e Salah for Diaz yesterday), timing, or weight of pass.

The one thing he excels at is tracking back and always helping his fullback. The other attribute he is missing is heading, but that's not something crucial. I do feel sorry for him, he is in a position where the quality of the league is too many steps too high for him, and you can see it with the naked eye. He made such a promising start to his United career with the goals vs Arsenal and City, but soon enough, all of his deficiencies started to surface.

The unsung hero of our squad. Works his arse off every game and happy to play wherever he's needed.

So much better than people give him credit for, and that's coming from someone who would have happily sold him 2/3 years ago.

Hope, We Lose
Thought he did an incredible job evading pressure today. The amount of times he received the ball in our defence and a Liverpool player went to close him down and he just shimmied out of any trouble and able to continue building attacks. We also saw him playing in the middle at times in the inverted fullback position where again he had the awareness and fleetness of foot to hold onto the ball

His improvement has been remarkable. Playing at a higher level than he was prior to the WC last year. One of our best players.

He was awesome today. He's one of the best defenders at the club, if not the best. Fantastic.

Right, some humble pie, he's quietly become very very good. I hated him before, called him a nothing footballer. He's looking great.

He’s been consistently good , athletic and given 7/10 every game this season. His athleticism reminds me so much of Walker but with better technicality.

He was an absolute monster in the first half. Still good for the rest of the match too, but first half he was probably the best player on the pitch.
Yes my exact thoughts. 1st half, he was playing inverted, evaded their press, extremely comfortable on the ball, defensively contained Diaz and switched the ball to the other wing a few times to open our game when we were under pressure. 2nd half got a little tired but still came up with very important defensive contributions and was solid all around. Then in extra time, was excellent in that right back-come-central defender space.

Lovely display. He has perfectly adapted to the FB in midfield role. Great technical ability shown today and he has shown it throughout the season.

Player of the season at this point. Technically elite, defensively sound enough, hope he develops the final ball as well.

What a performance. I felt like he was everywhere today. So happy to see the player he’s turning into.
