Who is McAteera anyway, first time I've ever heard of that name in my life

Best performance effort wise and mentality wise if the season. Fear it’s too little too late as we are quite far behind top four but much better and we should get to the final.

Jason McAteer, one of the spice Boys
Used to be Roy Keane's closest friend in the Ireland team, but they fell out massively.

If you get the chance, check out Keane defending McAteer versus Macedonia in 1997. Classic stuff.

I'm sure he understands whats at stake the rest of this season. If it looks like CL football is gone (which it isn't) then getting bounced out of the FA Cup could've been curtains for him. Now, it looks like we have a decent shot of making the CL, which when you factor in injured players returning, could make for a stronger than expected finish.
Yeah we could have a virtually fully fit squad to pick from IF we can get past Coventry. Only one who has zero chance of making it is Malacia

Love Yorkie's comments. Proper Red.

That plastic face Mcateer on the other hand is a proper clown.

My lasting memory of McAteer was this.
Fresh of Keane's first autobiography, that "put it down in your book" bit was kind of funny.

Wondering a bit about the Liverpool decision to pull Salah in the 77th minute, he certainly faded a bit in the second, I was wondering if this might be because he couldn't take on any fluids or food after sunrise due to fasting. It's certainly going to have an impact on a top level athlete.
There was every chance Amad himself was fasting. Probably why he got himself sent off. Guy needed to break his fast.

Just rewatched that game's highlight.
Mcateer with possibly a top 10 all time bad challenge. Having given a pen away earlier.

Well, seven goals wasn't a huge surprise... I just thought we might only get one or two of them! But by 30 mins in, I thought some United teams in the past would have had the game won, Liverpool were that ordinary.

The fact that heads didn't drop (making a nice change) was great but it was an odd game: as a team we were not great but so many really good performances individually: Onana (although I do wonder about the save before the second goal; it needed pushing away from the danger area), Dalot, who was fantastic, McT (most will disagree, I'm sure) he actually was a box-to-box midfielder with some excellent blocks and defensive headers, and the MoM for me Garnacho, who drove their defence mad. And Mainoo would get into their team... just needs to get a bit stronger.

Also pretty good from Rashford by recent standards and even Antony made a difference. plus Maguire's attitude was spot on. Lindelof did well too despite having to play in abut three different positions, AWB some good things some bad. As for Varane, i've been a huge fan but and he's always made up for a slight lack of pace by reading the game so well, but he may be done sadly.

And then there was Amad.. don't want to get carried away but he does look good player and it was a top-class finish because he ball from Garno wasn't perfect.

The boss? Well, he gambled and won - not that he had much choice. But the line-up by the end was hilarious. When Rashford missed right at the end, ii couldn't see how we could play the 30 minutes with so many players out of position. But I repeat, Liverpool just weren't that good. We actually had more (and, in general, better) chances.

Can we beat City in the final? I don' think so... just have to hope Chelsea play out of their skins. And trivia time: has the FA Cup Final ever been played by the same two clubs in successive years? i can' remember it happening.

PS - I didn't even notice until just now that Mount got on! and whichever pen-pusher thought it was a good idea to book players for taking their shirt off (especially if they've got another one underneath), is a sad little f*ck)

Great spirit! Finally creating chances left, right and centre. Conceding 3 in 120 minutes against Liverpool isn't great, but I'll take it on a day like yesterday.
Top 3 team perfomance of the season for me, and something to build on.
It's good most of our players gets a good and well earned rest.

Anyone talking about the foul on Bruno before their second goal? I thought it was a foul

I can't remember why I joined this war.
One of the things that made this win yesterday even sweeter was the fact that the commentators left out no chance to remind everyone that Liverpool was playing for a quadruple, while for us, it was the only chance to get something from a shitty season. Take that haters.:devil::devil:

I missed the game *crying emoji*
Same. Even worse, I had to turn down a ticket as I was booked to sing in a concert in the Lake District.

Fortunately I was only involved in fits and starts, so was able to keep taking surreptitious glances at my phone to read the commentary my sister was kindly providing on WhatsApp :)

What a game that was. You lot absolutely turned up on the day and it looked like a cracking atmosphere....gutted that we lost the way we did but I've fallen out of love with football a bit the last few years and that game drew me right back in!

As long as we pay you back with 3 points in the league...

Oles was better
Nah, we still ended drawing the game and Arsenal still ended up winning the league anyway.

Scoring against biggest rivals to knock them out of the cup and then doing Messi's (now Amads) celebration tops that for me.

Even after the game still sour grapes from Mcateer. Acted like we were under the cosh for the whole game. The delusion is real.

He was also talking some nonsens about possession. Yes Liverpool played the ball around in second half. Between defenders for long periods of time. Congratulations. Handball tactics.

How we didn't score 3-4 goals in first half I never know. We dominated them for 40 minutes. That seems to be forgotten. Also last 10 minutes in the game including extra time. We were much better team. Liverpool had their spell when we opened up in second half with some counter attacks. Thats it.

Keane needs to be there to talk some sense into those guys.

Seen a few of there fans moaning this morning saying the 2nd goal shouldn’t have counted because VVD cleared the ball that an offside player was trying to intervene in.

Games like this are what happens when old traditional rivalries meet and everyone decides to throw away Pep’s book called “The Only Way To Play Football Is To Pass Your Opponents To Death”.

I cannot remember the last time I was so involved watching a game.

Cracking stuff. More of this please.

The result speaks for itself, but the never give up spirit has returned to OT, the heart was beating the blood was pumping and everyone fortunate enough to be there were doing their collective best to roar the team on and it worked.

For almost half an hour in the second half, Liverpool looked ominously like they were into their rhythm and
Onana played them virtually on his own, MOTM for me.

Obviously the goal scorers take the plaudits, but AWB put in a performance, Dalot continues to improve, McT just won't go away will he, no matter how much some fans deride him?
Garnacho caused Liverpool untold fears every time he got on the ball and, miracles of miracles Antony scored...with his RIGHT FOOT... unbelieveable.

There were 'cameo' moments from Kobbie and Varane steady the ship when necessary. Lindelof looked 100% better in CB, slight worry when he went to LB and all the subs played a part in keeping us 'after' Liverpool. Bruno in a way had a quiet game, but put himself about, rescued odd situations and finished up playing in the back four. Rasmus was slightly off with his timing, not quite 'on it', but he made a nuisance of himself and
Marcus took his goal fantastically after what was the miss of the game near the end of normal time.

Another great night at OT long may it live in the memory.

Keys is an absolute disgrace. He is so derogatory towards Utd it is unreal. Despise the man.

Great result and really hung in there to get it, let’s not get too excited though as that 2nd half was embarrassing and it could have easily have been another mauling.

Sick of the halfwits chanting about Hillsborough though, I was in the Stretford end with my 9 year old and it was appalling, just need to ban the idiots for life. Its the same ones everytime too, and usually the most offended when the other lot sing about Munich, its all got to stop . . .
