Another really good aspect of this win is that it gives great belief for the upcoming league game against them. We are definitely able to get a result for ourselves, and hopefully take some points off them for the title.

Felt weird to moan about this yesterday but how the feck did that referee find 5 minutes of added time in a 15 minute half?

For those who don't think Gary Nev isnt a real red! (apologies for the awful American commentary - although it's quite funny that he can barely pronounce FA!)

Just finished watching the game as I missed it yesterday. We were definitely better first 35 minutes, then dropped last 10 minutes of that half and they took the lead. In second half Liverpool better until like 5 or 10 minutes before Antony's goal, then obviously we could've even won it as Rashford missed that sitter. Thought we were better overall in extra time as well, so all in all deserved to win it.

Also the way Old Trafford erupted after Antony's and especially Amad's goal was beautiful. Where's that guy who said before the game it's his first time watching United at OT yesterday? Really glad for him, he's probably been smiling non-stop ever since Amad's goal.
I guess you are talking about me, unless there's someone else too.

Absolutely been smiling every second. Highlight of my 23 years of United fandom. Highest of highs.

We were better for the opening 25 mins but it was pretty even if you take off your rose tinted glasses we were 1-2 down remember
I don't know about mauling but we had some absolutely great chances. McT should have made it 2-0 when he hit straight at the keeper. Until their first goal I don't think it was even at all.

That was infuriating. I didn't think the ref was as bad as other fans on here but that bit was maddening. He let them play for an extra 2 mins I thought

West Ham up 1 against Villa. edit: no, West Ham up 2! Edit 2: aw, goal ruled out. Half time but West Ham is on top of Villa.

I remain, this will be a good day for us. We will crush LFC like a little insect under your boot. Its on!
This was me, pre-game. I just knew. How, I did not. Who the hell is gonna stop Salah? Who is gonna score for us? I had no clue. I just knew we gonna beat them and wipe the smile off the face of that increasingly annoying Klopp and his Jesus come again-aura. To do it in the last seconds of ET...perfect, just perfect.

This whole day I just cannot stop smiling. The greatest feeling!

Still buzzing off yesterday. Absolutely shredded the bumrush bastards and they were lucky to score the three that they did, but don’t expect any of the Scouse nonces in the media to accept or acknowledge that.

A proper twatting.

Yes you're the one :) genuinely happy for you man, that's probably one of the best United games in post-Fergie era in many ways, you definitely knew which game to pick.

When will Alisson, Arnold, Konate and Jota be back? If they recover until next time we play them then they will be much better. I think even with current players available for both teams, Liverpool will be favourites. And I'd gladly take a draw right now tbh. Don't trust us to be tactically good enough to beat them again (also it was a draw after 90 minutes).

I haven't seen the entire team, including subs, playing so hard and for each other, in years. Everybody gave their all, and as a team, not just running around aimlessly individually. That night in Paris, when we beat PSG under Ollie comes close but in a way this was above and beyond anything since Fergie. It may have been just one FA Cup match, but it was also the spirit I had no idea we had left in our team.

Young kids were sensational - Mainoo, Garnacho, Amad. So proud of them.

Happy day, a very happy day. Well done everybody, including Erik
For 35 minutes yes.
For 10 minutes at the end of 90 and 5 minutes at the end of 120; yes- in the other periods I thought we looked happy to stand and watch Liverpool pass it to each other. Am I wrong ?

Anyone talking about the foul on Bruno before their second goal? I thought it was a foul
Not a chance. The Liverpool player played the ball on the Bruno's foot, who threw himself to the ground, brainfart AWB stands and complains to the ref and Liverpool take the ball and score. Completely stupid and pathetic from the two of them.

I agree with your assessment of the 90 minutes but I thought united where the better team in extra time.

Yeah, you’re wrong. Or at least you seem to have a weird notion that anything other than 90 minutes of total domination against one of the best teams in Europe is worthy of criticism. Football matches ebb and flow and there will be periods when good teams get on top. But to start and finish the match as the dominant team says only good things about the teams mentality.

In terms of more specific ways you’re wrong, there’s absolutely no way Liverpool dominated us for 25 out of the 30 minutes of extra time. So I’ve no idea how you think we only performed for 5 minutes of that period.

Calm down, calm down. We only won because Liverpool have played more games than us in 2024.

And that's a fact.

Klopp said it post match.

So it was actually nothing to do with us; just them having played more games.

You're the second person to say that, so my perception of the extra time must be wrong. I should go and watch it again. Not like it won't be a joyous experience.

That's why witnesses are practically useless - they can't remember if it was a bicycle or a bus, sunshine or rain - but they definitely saw it.

Watch it again, it doesn't matter whether he kicked the ball or Bruno first, it's the massive hand in the back from a player running full pelt that is the (blatant) foul. The ref and VAR were utter dogshit.

OK, I remember specifically looking at the feet, my eyes were no where near the back - I will go and watch.

Ha! Due to a series of complicated/annoying events the only bit I watched live was the last 5 minutes of extra time. I rewatched the whole thing just now. As always, watching a game when you know the result is miles less stressful and gives you a very different (and more accurate picture) of what happened. First half we were better until the last few minutes. Second half was the exact opposite. Extra time we were the team most likely to score for basically the whole time.

If you have the time, I would strongly recommend doing that. I've never done this before but as soon as I got home from the game yesterday I rewatched all of the first half, skipped most of the second half until the 80th minute, and then all of extra time.

At the time, I was so high on adrenaline that some chunks of extra time were a blur. On the rewatch, I was surprised by how well we played for large parts of extra time. We were worthy of our win.

We outplayed them on extra time. Particularly once we were down 2-3...with Bruno and Eriksen keeping the ball and everyone else running their socks off without the ball. We completely deserved the win.

I truly hope they learned how effective that can be. Off-the-ball movement is probably our biggest issue (along with a generally immobile back line screwing up the hope of a high press) and when we do move, magic happens.

Indeed. Since he said he's going everyone in the press seems to be rooting for him. They'll be sad when he goes because he's good value I suppose.
Im not anti Klopp, just anti the Klopp bandwagon and all the luvvies who ride it and the rubbish they spout; the BBC especially fawn over everything Klopp does and says and in a poll a few months back Klopp was placed higher than Sir Alex! Well, the beeb hate both SAF and United. The truth is Klopps a very good manager hes no Wenger, Mourinho, Guardiolla or SAF!

One of those ones where some refs give it and some refs don't. And that ref yesterday definitely wasn't gonna give it.

Unfortunately Bruno dives too easily and looks for soft frees, and it's obvious he's used up all his credit with a lot of PL refs as a result.
Yeah, had a similar situation against Arsenal/Odegaard last year (or the one before?).

Play to the whistle.

Rashford sprinting forward at full speed after 120 minutes. Damn, I’d be happy if he had that hunger and displayed similar attitude in half of the games.

I rewound the extra time twice after it finished and have watched the highlights 4 times

Those are rookie numbers. You've got to pump those numbers up!

ITV keep everything on their app for 30 days, so I'm sure be rewatching the whole of extra time again soon. Certainly more preferable than watching any international football this weekend!
