I’d say Maguire kept us in it more…
It's funny how football works. For all the abuse Maguire got, for all the talk of selling him, there's almost no-one in the league you'd want more when the ball is being lumped in high and long.

Had hoped the Liverpool win might have been a catalyst for progress. Instead, normal service resumed by this substandard bunch.

Brentford had been in free fall but we allowed them 31 shots and they hit the post what? Four times?

Dreadful to watch.

Yet again we start games well for the first 10 minutes but the opposition then work out that we have no player who can dribble past a man (Garnacho is the only one who can do so from a standing start and was clearly not match fit tonight) and adjust accordingly.

AWB can do a man marking job, especially when a left footed player cuts in to face him on his right foot, but has no composure as an attacker. We were toothless on the flanks and reverted to long balls.

I don’t even know where to start, there’s no way we can carry on like this. After that crazy Liverpool result I actually though it might be a turning point.. nope straight back to the same old dross we see week in, week out,
It’s like they don’t have any plan to score a goal at all, they play the strangest brain dead football I’ve ever seen.. everything is hopeful and random. Sick of it

Awful performance but another point to keep us in the Europa Conference places for next year, Southgates first big test.
I've got a good feeling about Gaz Southy. He could be just the calming influence to keep us 6th next year while we get all the management right.
Target the top 4 in a few more years when Pep has gone etc etc

Right up there to be ranked worst performance of the season

I am also sick of seeing us score then instantly concede. It's a major issue and needs addressing

ETH needs the sack but the rumours of Southgate being on the shortlist hardly fill me with confidence

Mount scores. Camera cuts to McLaren celebrating wildly with a look of absolute disbelief on his face. ETHs expression is of embarrassment.

absolutely dire. God damn can’t stand the state of this team. That was the most subdued and in-effective our younglings have been (Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund) I just can’t fecking stand seeing Bruno being a wasteful shit and Rashford being…well Rashford.

McT probably having his best season and I’m still in disbelief he’s getting plenty of minutes in the first team.

Mainoo completely exposed again on his own with Bruno running around all over the place and Scott being shite.

and even when we manage to pull off a smash and grab…oh no wait…of course there’s still time for us to feck it up.

Brentford looked so far ahead of us. Anyone would be forgiven thinking it was us with 14 defeats in last 18 games…or whatever sky said of Brentford before the game

Oh dear oh dear. Highs and lows with this team. Probably more lows though. From the high of beating Liverpool- a team that should really beat us, to the low of drawing with a team that’s probably going to get relegated. And not just drawing with them but being dominated by them. Says it all when a draw is a good result for United. Brentford should have walked away with all 3 points.

We’d probably beat an equally poor Chelsea on Thursday and then decide that ETH is the man for the job. Sick of our inconsistency and lack of cohesiveness. I’ve been at Sunday league games with better organisation.

Agreed, he’s an old school ball winner that suits a team that is facing a lot of balls being put into the box. Just not effective when playing in a high line unfortunately.

Martinez was the absolute definition of rusty, and if there's one game a season we shouldn't play him at all in, it's Brentford. Just looks like a boy amongst giants.

Maguire played well I thought. He's one of the few we have who can cut it against these big physical teams.
He heavily contributed to the whole panic station mode where apparently the ball weighs 200kg inside our own box, but ironically he often looks better than the others in those scenarios.

We were crap. But Bruno ruining every move by shooting from 30 yards out didn’t help.

Happy for Mount. Hopefully this can be the start of us having an alternative to Bruno in the number 10
Especially the one with AWB on the overlap and 2 on 1 situation. The guys a fecking idiot.

He tried one of the most bizarre passes ever at one stage. A sort of outside of the foot attempt to pass to his right back. Fluffing it, playing their matey boy in and we just about escaped it.

Very rusty. but he'll have to get back to it soon as he'll no doubt have to start the next game on Thursday as there's no chance Lindelof or Varane will be available surely.

That’s pretty weird if I’m honest.
Fair enough!

I don't mind a scabby result or win every now and then, they can sometimes even be some of the best moments. O'Shea at Anfield for example, or if it's a cup final win you wouldn't care.

Thing is, scabby results used to come rarely, in the middle of many deserved results and I'd think that we can't be at our best all the time and that sometimes a little bit of luck is deserved for all the previous good work.

This season a lot of our positive results have been after playing rubbish and they've left me feeling hollow. I take no joy in us fluking so many results and don't feel proud of the team when we do it.

I suppose I'm big on the idea of merit.

A very strong candidate for the worst performance from a United team in the post-Fergie era. That was as bad as i've ever seen 11 players for this club play. Its as bad as the 7-0 performance. There is no chance he is at the club next season. He may not even make it beyond April at this point.

Just be glad you started watchin this season, as boy have we had some stinkers post Fergie.
This team is right up there with the worst of those bunches to. They still look like they were thrown together this morning.

I got the first part, over the last few seasons I often feel we don’t necessarily deserve much from many games but how you enjoyed them scoring was odd.

We should have lost by 4 or 5, but in the end should have nicked it. Mental.

We're just always a bit "last gasp". Just get there, half the time. We seem knackered and it's last ditch all the time.

I get there was a random mid-season world cup that contributes to fatigue, but we've really got to look at our pre seasons. You've got 2 of the consistently poor performers in Rashford and Bruno doing their own pre pre-season in Portugal followed by the club pre-season tour of the states and half of Europe. We're doing the states again this summer after the euros (Glazer's money making).

I'm not saying it's an excuse but it's got to be a contributing factor.

I'm sure Rashford has something in his contract that says he has to play a percentage of minutes. Waste of a shirt.

Making Bruno and Rashford our undroppable stars, not to mention Bruno the captain...

We get what we deserve. A team that can't keep hold of the ball, string passes, play football and dominate against any team.
Building our team around players like Bruno and Rashford only ensures we will never even have any chance to evolve beyond being a mediocre counterattacking team.

Always dislike Brentford away. It always seems to be a crap kick off time that you just know our lot won't be up for.

Then that horrible rendition of Hey Jude with all their mockneys screaming "wooooo".
Horrible lot.

I actually thought he tried to pass it out because of injury:lol: but yeah, Maguire and Licha is our bet now.

What the feck are we up to with our lack of playing out from the back? I thought that was one of ten Hags trademarks? I thought that was why we signed Onana?
We seem to just hoof it now and hope the ball breaks to one of our forwards close to their goal?
Obviously, Mctominay doesn’t help with that, but why werent Eriksen or Casemiro brought on sooner.
Its all very similar to Oles football.

We’ve had some shit managers post Fergie, but Moyes, Rangnick and Ten Hag have their own special hall of shame.

I wonder where we would be now if we had just stuck with Van Gaal for the last 7 years or so. I’d venture absolutely no worse off.
Sorry....but LVG football was way too boring for me.

With the exception of 90 seconds where it looked like a smash and grab was suddenly on, I absolutely hated that game.

Such a sloppy, plodding, toothless performance. As poor as we were going forward, the most frustrating thing for me was how often we should have cleared our lines only to dither or tentatively poke it straight back to Brentford for yet another attack. .

Awful. A poor performance but with full commitment is one thing, but we just never seemed to get out of first gear. And the fact it was the same starting XI that put in such an energetic and committed performance v Liverpool the game before just beggars belief. We're such a frustrating team.

Amazingly we hit 357 to their 264 accurate passes. We also had 53% of the possession, but still conceded 85 to 16 touches in the opposition penalty area. Sideways and backward passing obviously doesn't get you anywhere.
