How ETH went from having a tactical masterclass against Liverpool one week and getting outclassed by Brenford in another is beyond me.

  • Brentford (85) became just the third side on record (since 2008-09) to have 80+ touches in the oppositions box in a Premier League game after Man City vs Southampton in November 2019 and Man City vs Norwich in July 2020 (87 in both matches).
  • Brentford had 31 shots in this game (scoring with their 31st and final attempt), their highest total in a Premier League match, while on record (since 2003-04) there are only three instances of Man Utd facing more shots in a single Premier League match.
  • Brentford hit the woodwork four times this evening with only Brighton (5) vs Man Utd in September 2020 doing so more in a Premier League game on record.
Other than that, not too bad.

We had most possession, although I think that was mainly down to how many goal kicks Onana had to take.
Good god, I don't even want to watch the highlights now.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.

.
They also had 14 corners to our 4.

This match is a great example of why I don't watch football anymore

That and the fact the rights keep getting sold to pathetic low quality streaming services here in Canada

I was watching a stream and someone commented "imagine paying to watch this?"

Glad I didn't

I'll not be watching rest of the season, free or otherwise, absolute waste of time!

the majority of the players we have today are not worthy of wearing our shirt, and most never will be. CRAP!
If its any consolation - they weren't wearing out shirt but some disgusting NUFC lookalike. Horrible shirt. Horrible players. Horrible game.

Are we just one of those game raising teams now? Embarrassing how we went from the Liverpool game to that.

The pressing that we do is so weird and yet when Carragher pointed it out, our manager reacted negatively to it.

We press with 4 players (LW,RW,ST and Bruno) against typically 5 players (Rb, LB, CB, CB, GK) you can already see there that the opposition will have a free man and it’s usually the RB or the LB. Now when that play transitions into midfield, we are in trouble as normally it will be a minimum 2 midfielders but typically 3 plus the wing back making it 4 vs 2 of Maino and whoever is partnering him.

This is happening over and over and over again and he doesnt do anything to change it. Its beyond stubborn at this point.

This team is shit, let’s just face it.
I’d like to hold on to Manoo and Garnacho, but the rest could leave this summer and I couldn’t care less. Rashford and ETH should not be allowed to finish the season, sack the fraud and put the overpaid cnut in the reserves for the rest of the season and ship him to PSG or QPR in the summer.
Brentford are 16th and we got outplayed for 90 minutes and the dutch fraud had no answers, I’m sick of this shit!
100% spot on. Exactly what I think as well. Terrible performance. And Rashford was pathetic.

We're the luckiest team in the league. We've been outplayed in the majority of games all season. Yet somehow we get away with it so often. We should be in the bottom half of the table based on how hopeless we are. We're nothing but moments FC. There's no cohesion, no style, no plan, no tactics. There's feck all. The manager is a fraud

Imagine someone abroad spending 6 months worth of savings (for airline tickets, hotels, etc) to see United play and served that kind of performance. Can never be me but theres a chance that happened since its near good friday + weekends

What really gets me about EtH is that the law of averages says that even a mediocre/poor side should have good days and play well eventually.

When did we last win a game three or four nil? When did we last play objectively well under EtH...and don't say "Liverpool" because we could have lost that game 4-1!

Simple tactic to score vrs United ... lump the ball in to the penalty area and fight for the second ball and you will normally get given a opportunity to score.

Our whole defence is shocking, AWB just strolling out and leaving Toney onside, he's done it a few times this season.

ETH looked a broken man in the interviews after the game, these players must drive him mad, how on earth can you put in such a insipid performance after the Liverpool game is beyond me.

It really needs to be a busy summer.

EtH out.

Now.

If you do not agree, just rewatch the game.

The players have no fire.
The tactics were hidden under Harry Potters invisible cloak.
So was McTominay.
I wish the cloak was big enough to hide the performances of Rashford and Bruno as well, but no such luck.

How the feck can they play like in the end of the Liverpool or Villa games and then like yesterday?

It is as if the team has a remote on/off switch, controlled by Gary Lineker or Jamie Carragher...

Get the remote back, and hire a proper gaffer...

Whilst in possession, stroke the ball around on the halfway line. Make sure no one makes any runs, and if they do, punish them by not passing to them. When this doesn’t work, try little give and gos in the most packed area of the pitch, or better still just dribble straight into the defenders. If you still haven’t scored after 10 minutes, give up all hope and leave it to last ditch defending and the woodwork to save you.
“Ok boss.”

I’d throw a crispy 50 pound note on Brighton to win handicap -1. Easy money

I can understand their point,we deserved absolutely nothing out of this and nearly got a win
I can't at all. I can understand Brentford or neutral fans being annoyed but I can't understand a united fan being pleased we didn't win. Seems absolutely insane to me.

It’s performances like this which is why I’m losing faith in ETH. We got absolutely dominated by a team near the relegation zone & we would have had no complaints whatsoever if the result finished in the same scoreline as it did last season down at that place.
I have no idea who could/would replace him…and I have generally been supportive of ETH. Last night was my tipping point.

Still no patterns of play when we see Liverpool reserves stepping into their starting line up and playing the same. The excuse of having players missing shouldn’t mean we aren’t seeing similar patterns and shapes. It’s just chaos…they’re making it up as they go.

rashford. I want him gone. Can’t play in a possesion based team. Can’t press. Can’t get physical and bully his opponent. He’s only ever decent when we’re countering. Top earner. Zero effort. Can’t wait for him to be gone

Bruno. An idiot. Careless with the ball. Plays with too much emotion. If he’s angry…he’ll take a shot. Or if he’s angry and out of possession he’ll concede a free kick. So predictable. Predictably bad. Can’t wait for him to be gone.

persistence with these two is mental.

I keep saying about there is no physicality in this side. We get bullied by every team we play. We are mentally weak as well. We don't have one hard man in this side, I don't mean someone who whinges, I mean scare the s**t out of the opposition, that you would think twice going up against them.

Spot on.
Mentally very weak.
Physically weak.
Tactically very weak.
Desire pretty much non existent.

There is no excuse at all.
They were well aware of the earlier results.
But honestly.
That was pathetic in the extreme.

That is a good point about Ten Hag. No wonder the guy is continually shaking his head.
As he said, there are no excuses.

He has a lot to answer for.
But in the PL, you can only polish a turd so many times.
The lack of quality on the ball is awful.
And the lack of desire is simply shocking.
Yet another season down the pan.
And what comes next is anyone guess.

I think EtH looked like he knew his p45 was in the post in post-match interviews.

The Glazers have only ever cared about the top-4 gravy train. Even with this season being possibly top-5, we don't deserve it, not by a country mile.

40 goals scored and 40 conceded in the PL so far this season. Utter tripe.

I don’t wish to defend him given the horrendous stats staring us in the face, but a big part of that has to be on the players.

The tactics were uninspiring and muddled last night, but the players simply looked like they couldn’t be bothered or just had no focus at all.

Part of that is on Ten Hag but as Keano says - top players don’t need motivating.

We've had plenty of bad performances this season but that was surely the most brutal of the lot and against a side in terrible form, that was their 11th point in the last 19 games.

There was no tactical masterclass against Liverpool. There was a ton of heart but Liverpool messed up a ridiculous amount of 4 on 2, 5 on 3 breaks and really should have put the game to bed long before Utd got some energy and momentum going. Ending up outlasting them in a chaotic match but I don't see anything tactical to build on from that game.

I don't think xG is relevant in regard to Liverpool messing up counters when they had the numerical advantage. If a chance isn't created then xG isn't involved (?) but you would say Liverpool certainly SHOULD have created some good chances out of those opportunities

I still think we were the better team, but they were uncharacteristically bad at taking advantage of those situations

Was anyone really surprised by that come down after the Liverpool game?

Multiple people were calling it in the wake of the euphoria. This team was never going to ‘kick on’ & the Liverpool performance wasn’t sustainable.

I cant even muster disappointment in this lot anymore.

Ineos, do your thing. No one is safe.

It seems that after an international break, our opponents are well prepared while we look like our players are only just back from vacation.
