He’s still a decent player but even if you halve his wages it’s still not worth it. Just can’t cope with the demands of the league and we need some continuity, especially as big question marks against Martinez as well.

Sick and tired of this sick note. I keep reading he's been really good for us, it's just fitness issues but I think his performances have been distinctively average at best. Get rid.

I like the guy but it's been a disappointing signing because of the injuries.

He had a good season last year and him and Martinez looked a good partnership but it just wasn't a good long-term signing for the club.

He is only 30, but he is a very old 30 in footballing terms. His body just isn’t made for the top level any more.

Similar to Shaw who is an old 28 in terms of injuries etc. Most of the CB’s are weak and battered tbh.

Noticed it today, he has an odd looking bottom half. Zero muscle mass and knock knees, like it's so weird
Yeah i noticed that too, just after commentary mentioned he was injured. Camera panned to him as he was jogging out of defence and his two knees were rubbing against each other, just a very strange looking physique. Injuries defo have taken their toll on him which is a pity because he’s still quite young for a centre half. Plenty years left in the tank if he was able to stay fit. He’s been around so long you’d be forgiven for thinking he was 33-36yo

Needs to shut up and perform. One of those guys who has an opinion about everything and is always playing victim - what next Varane? The shorts are too tight? It’s too cold in winter?

Just shut up and be consistent, injury free for atleast a few games ffs.

If we can recoup anything for him that would be good. When he plays he's good and it helps make a difference vs without him. But it's very on off

Feel for him. He's still a great player that gives his all, but his body needs a long rest.

Do his knees always point towards each other and I only noticed it yesterday? It's no wonder he's never fit if he's a posture like that. Wonder if he maybe has balance issues that led to it? Or are modern boots just shit?

He talks so much about what's wrong with modern football and he can barely get through halves of football. He's better off retiring and getting a job with FIFA at this point, it seems that's where his mind is anyway and his body can handle that at least.

He talks because he’s a victim of the exertion modern football puts on the body and as an older high profile player he feels he has a responsibility to younger professionals to ensure the conditions improve or at least do not deteriorate further as they have been this last decade.

Young Kambwala or Evans comes in and we don't lose anything in defence when he's out. Just get rid, he's been average and a constant sicknote.

Did Ten Hag say in today's after match press conference that both Varane,Evans are unlikely to play again this season?

Probably for the best. With the money he’s on, if he’s fit then he plays. But it isn’t often enough to get any consistency.

If thats true, it's a good decision. Hopefully the start of some of the good decisions we need to make this summer. Eriksen and Martial should be next on the list who should be leaving on free transfers.

Even if Eriksen has another year on his contract, nobody is going to buy him and he wants more first team football anyways so probably best for both to agree to let him leave on a free transfer.

Yeah, he’s right, and it needs to be said. What really should happen is players joining together to organize sit downs to force rule changes and limitations on games, Young people handicap themselves for life trying to be millionaires. Most end up a-thousand-quid-aires with chronic pains, or even nothing-aires.

Noticed this yesterday as the camera was on him walking.

Shocking looking for a professional footballer but he always had a very weird stride when he sprints.

Glasgow resident these days.
Tidy player when fit, but we can replace him this summer and save a wedge on wages. Bad season from him and seemingly made of glass. Thankfully his contract is up, otherwise we’d be stuck with another expensive crock.

It’s a no brainer letting him leave in the summer, not that fussed he is injured as means Kambwala should get more opportunities.

Still a good player but he's not worth 340k a week for sure.

Getting him off the wage bill will help tremendously towards FFP

Yep, it's the end of Varane at Old Trafford. Superb footballer when fit, but he should consider retirement soon.

Another player we should have never signed. Should have gone a younger player with huge upside; but our need for instant gratification without thinking about the long-term future of the club has been a hallmark of the Woody/Murtogh era. Sigh...

Anyway, adversity for someone is opportunity for someone else. Hopefully, Kambwala will play a lot of minutes from now until the end of the season. Gives us a chance to properly asses if he is ready to play a part as the 3rd or 4th choice for us next season.

Look back to that summer when we recruited Ronaldo , Varane , Sancho . What a terrible window that drain our financial resource and need several years to heal the damage. Seems good on paper but lots of hints even at that moment that suggest it would not work. It costed Ole's job and probably will cost ETH's as well.

I think he needs replacing but if he’d stay for the same wage Maguire is on (180k?), it would make more sense to move Harry on IMO.

Maguire has some transfer value, is older and can’t play a high line.

Varane has still got transfer value in 12 months in the Saudi market etc. He’s only 31.

Maguires about 6 weeks older, is way more reliable to stay fit and will probably refuse to leave as he's on a good contract and believes he'll get game time. Would happily have both of them move on give more game time to big Willy, plus buying 2 replacements. Time to move on those who have not helped to progress the team, but it won't be easy. No Champions league should help it, as they all about to get a pay decrease for failing to qualify.
