I’ve never played the games and am really liking it. Seen a lot of game die-hards shitting on it for not being in their image. Never really understood why you’d want to watch something that’s exactly the same as something you’ve already read/played.
Yeh and I'm if those die hards actually concentrated properly on it they'd see there's nothing to complain about. The New Vegas fanboys were going mental on some of the threads on Reddit.

A lot of the times to self proclaimed purists or hardcore fans of any material are best ignored IMHO. They ll never be happy.

I'm one of the hard core fans, and New Vegas was my favourite of the franchise so far...

I absolutely loved it. Binged all 8 episodes today
I'm actually super glad to see a lot in here, who aren't familiar with Fallout enjoying it, as it means my biased opinion isn't just a blinkered view.

I went on IMDB and read some of the 1 star review and just shake my head.... No matter how good or bad something is, hardly anything is a 1, so when these fools give it a one, just because it wasn't what they wanted, it's so frustrating.

That being said, I enjoyed it more than the last of us, but it could have probably been a bit shit and I'd still say that

Episode 1 was really fun. Love the first 3 games and honestly couldn't care if it changes the lore. Show is its own thing and quite good for at least 1 episode

Fallout (ep. 1) was pretty much brilliant. When compared to something like 3 Body Problem, it's night and day. The directing in this was spot on. The acting was actually really good too. It looked fantastic too. Great cast, the story so far is interesting, great production design - it's firing on all cylinders. It really makes the fecking disaster that is 3 Body Problem even stranger, when you see how a show is done properly.

2 eps in, absolutely loving it.

The way the guy who was fecking chickens picked up his case, walked away and then started legging it was straight out of the game

2 episodes in and... Think they got the style about right but the show itself is just decent so far. Might be being a bit harsh with my expecations off kilter after an episode of X-Men 97 yesterday the characters and writing feel sub par at this point. I'll continue for sure and finish the rest but if I hadnt been a fan of the games I might not have done.

I finished it. I liked it a lot. They gave us worldbuilding for non gamers. You got introduced well I thought to the "factions". It feels like a complete season even though there is so much potential and obvious space they want to go to for future seasons. I liked a lot of the characters from many different factions. It was fun, had appropriate humor at times too not corny really.

Finished it over the last two days. It’s pretty good in many ways. Some of the characters are great, with some wonderful interactions, yet it’s never truly great in any way. I’ve never played the game, nor am I even vaguely familiar with the world it’s set in, but I have to say that I found the general premise - as in the motivations behind the key Machiavellian characters - to be insanely stupid. Like unfathomably stupid. That sort of ruins the series for me, even though the vast majority of characters are good, acting quality, and the production great. All that said, it’s a really fun and easy watch.

Walter Goggins, as always, is superb.

I love the fallout games but just didn’t want them to be ruined by a poor imitation but looking at you guys I’m sure I’ll like it.
Some people are having maybe story or plot issues, but I wouldn’t worry about it. The lead is great, the photography and directing is top notch. It looks total quality. I played a couple Fallouts but I wasn’t in love with that style of game, and I’m loving this show.

If it’s post apocalyptic wastelands with guns, a bit of humour and heart I’m all in baby.

Just watched the first episode. It's definitely not a poor imitation. It's the perfect balance between homage and original content, which makes sense since Todd Howard is a producer. It's...well, a Fallout story directed by someone who did the first season of Westworld. Even if you don't rate that first season like I do, it's difficult to say that it wasn't decently written.

Goggins is amazing, as you'd expect. I hope there's more of him because even when he plays a prick he just oozes charisma. And the occasional bit of campy humour mixed with it's serious themes is classic Fallout. I really want to watch more but I think I'll persuade the missus to binge it with me. She's played feck all of the games but it seems right up her street as well.

Watched the second half of it this evening and thought it was excellent. The concern, as the episodes came and went, was that the big reveal was just going to leave me and anyone else who has played any Fallout game feeling a bit 'Is that it?'. But I thought they handled it and having to tread a bunch of other well trodden paths for the sake of bringing everyone else on board really well too. There were just enough little nuggets and nods for us nerds who've dwelved into anything Fallout for the last few decades for it not to just be 'This is a raider, this is a ghoul... this is a vault dweller...'. And let's face it seeing the wasteland in 4K was always going to be fecking awesome.

The most exciting bit of this being the 'entry level lore' season is how much they've not even begun to cover. Oh and definitely where they're going in the next one too.

I hope Amazon know what they have with this IP and I'd love for them to go down the LOST route, where there was almost more story building content between seasons as during them, with the numerous ARGs. Embrace the nerds, we'll eat that shit up.

I loved the game, it has its own special amount of unhinged mixed with parody. I think they have done a decent job of the adaptation but its not been amazing. I think they nailed the look and feel really well though. I get what you mean by some of the motivations etc being stupid but in the game it all worked. Its difficult to do that jump. Im enjoying it but its not anything more than easy listening radio to me

Solid 8/10 overall for the season. Great performances, near-flawless FX and a fantastic Ramin Djawadi score; I got goosebumps when the classic Fallout theme swelled in in the 6th episode

Hope we don't have 18 months + to wait for the next season; seems to be the standard for big budget Amazon shows...

Finished it now. 7/10 with a strong end.

Up until the finale I'd have given this a 6. It was a really good finale, did a lot of heavy lifting and did a lot for the characters and the overall story.

The Ghoul is a well developed character, possibly the only one. The twist and him becoming an ally at the end makes sense for how much development he got so really good work with him.

Fake Titus/ Maximus I didnt find him particularly likable or interesting and it left a lot on the table for what could have been from the Brotherhood of Steel and instead we got comedy noob in a suit. Everytime he put the suit on he just reminded me of a worse version of Robotman from Doom Patrol, only Brendan Frasier is actually funny and had some great lines. The scene where Titus says its his fault and threatens him makes no sense whatsoever. If Titus was that stupid how did he survive until he got a suit? Regardless its supposed to be a grey area (or it is from fake Titus' point of view because we get guilt later on) but if Titus was actually going to blame him and want them to do the things he said after his squire saved and helped him out then theres no grey area. He did what everyone would do and that removes the entire layer of storyline.

And then the main character. The vault dweller... She was boring and detracted from the show. Things did happen to her and she became more serious, but never likable for me. Too bland and vanilla.

Also the show had some annoying inconsistancies like one scene The Ghoul's guns every shot is explosive and then a few scenes later its every gunshot trope you've ever seen with normal "tv damage" and easy enough to treat. The slow motion spots and a lot of the humour were a bit cingey too. The twist was pretty good and one of the best parts, the finale and that plot point got it an extra mark for me.

They dedicate half the show to explaining what happened to cause the wasteland rather than well told stories of what happens in the wasteland which is more the point of the games. What did actually happen in the wasteland story was mostly silly stuff until the finale. Would have liked to see a few more things from the games like Super Mutants. Dont think I'd have watched past episode 2 if I hadnt been a fan of the games and it was only the final episode that really made it worth it.

I was going to take it slow, but I basically watched 4 episodes per day for two days. I guess that just shows how much I enjoyed it.

I didn't realize it was Ramin Djawadi, but it was obvious once I saw it on Spotify. I was really digging the Brotherhood of Steel music. So full of atmosphere.

Not played the games and just finished binging this, I really liked it. Good story and characters , only one I didn’t overly like was Maximus, found him pretty annoying. Looking forward to the next season, hopefully won’t have to wait too long.

I’ll go agaisnt the grain and say episode 1 was awful. Not sure why it’s getting soo hyped. Felt like a video game without any of the fun. Then again fallout has never been the most interesting universe.
