I dunno... I have a feeling the dems are going to end up in a huge mess for 2024 probably kamala gets the nomination but I suspect after a big internal fight... not sure that's going to be ideal for them and I think if the dems do go with new supreme Court judges etc that could really really motivate the gop base whilst leading some dems to thinking job done ... demographics certainly long term favour dems but they can't get complacent or start infighting then I can certainly see a possibility of the Republican party winning one of the next two elections
Haley is interesting... probably close enough to the trump administration to carry some trump support... but got out with enough time to dodge questions etc and she's reasonably skilled at that... think she would match up well against kamala (if that's who the dems end up with... if they end up with aoc then the republicans can probably pick anybody butb donald trump and win a landslide)
I just despair. This isn't going to go away, the mass consumption of conspiracy theories is going to continue to undermine democracies and result in violence and death. As has been said this is radicalisation, and that isn't simply undone and can't be reasoned with.
Love the optimism, but you're putting a lot of faith in the Dems not fecking it up somehow.

I had said this before. They found dozens of molotov cocktails in one van parked nearby. So the building could have been set ablaze easily.
If a 100 of the mob bad brought their assault rifles to the protest , they could have gained access much more easily and actually attacked lawmakers. I think they just didn't expect the building to be that undefended. So, the possibility for a completely catastrophic outcome was indeed very high.

But, the Capitol couldn’t have been set ablaze, it’s stone. Fires could have been set outside, but they would have been minor.
