They usually piss me off to no end, but they did something awesome today before the game against Wales.
Recently an icon (in my mind) of US soccer media, Daryl Grove, passed away from colon cancer. He was only in his early 40’s. He along with Taylor Rockwell hosted the TotalSoccerShow podcast and were always the first place I went before and after every game. We may have been his adopted country (he hailed from England), but his passion and optimism for our national team was infectious.
When US Soccer tweeted out today’s roster they included him on the team sheet. Maybe it’s all the shit going on in this country, or the literal hundreds of hours we “spent together”, but I shed a tear. Well done.
