Just the one change for the final. Had to take the upgrade on Sachin in the end after getting Wasim blocked.

Imagine Tendulkar looking at playing with that batting lineup. Himmanv's openers are excellent too but I think the upgrade from Gayle to Sachin had to be done at the end.

The the rest of the write up is more or less the same as last time.
Balance – Faf Du Plessis averages 55.51 at 3 and Taylor 52.14 at 4. Pietersen over a dozen innings at 5 averages 116 and can finish the game off from there after the early order have set the platform whilst Afridi can provide a late flurry to maximise the overs left. Botham is also capable.

Bowling - economy rate from Willis and Roberts opening and closing should strangle the opposition and compared to our opening partnership that could be the game right there. Plenty of threat from Roberts to then be replaced by Starc with his crazy strike rate. Then you have Warne threatening all the time and also Botham who was also pretty miserly and has the golden arm. Afridi to perhaps break a partnership when needed he's a match winner same as most of these players are. Two right arm quicks followed by left arm quick, seamer and the best leg spinner of all time covers all conditions plus Afridi to make inroads as a spinner where required.

Batting lineup
:

01. Sanath Jayasuriya /o
02. Quinton de Kock /+
03. Brian Lara /
04. Aravinda de Silva /o
05. Andrew Symonds /o
06. Mike Hussey /
07. Kapil Dev /o
08. Ravi Ashwin o/
09. Jaspirit Bumrah o
10. Shoaib Akhtar o
11. Glenn McGrath o

Things to note about the batting:
  • On his day, it wouldn't matter who the bowler is - Sanath will take him apart.
  • QdK is the more solid and consistent opener of the two but he's a good attacker in his own right.
  • Lara is one of my favourites and one of the best batsmen of the 90s and of all time as well.
  • Aravinda is a top ODI middle order bat and I think at his peak he was one of the best in the world.
  • I've always wanted to have Symonds and Hussey at 5 and 6. Just watched them put so many good ODI teams to the sword once they come in. They're just a great pairing
  • Kapil Dev is a top number 7 in this format and is a World Cup winner who can go after the bowling.
  • Ashwin can bat well enough and has scored vital runs in limited over formats.

------

Bowling lineup:

01. Glenn McGrath: Opening bowler
02. Shoaib Akhtar: Opening bowler:
03. Jaspirit Bumrah: First change
04. Ravi Ashwin: Primary spinner
05. Kapil Dev: Pace bowling allrounder
06. Sanath Jayasuriya: Spin bowling allrounder
07. Andrew Symonds: Spin bowling allrounder/Pace bowling allrounder
08. Aravinda de Silva: Backup spinner

Things to note about the bowlers:
  • McGrath and Akhtar take the new ball to provide consistent brilliance on one end and fiery pace on the other.
  • McGrath acts as the main strike bowler throughout the innings.
  • Akhtar uses his pace to get wickets early and bowls a bit of reverse swing in the death.
  • Bumrah is first change and specialist death bowler.
  • Kapil Dev is a top pace option in this format in his own right.
  • Ashwin is the main spinner and his job is to restrict and make it difficult to score runs in the middle overs
  • Jayasuriya keeps it flat and restricts scoring.
  • Symonds offers another spin option or pace option depending on the surface (preferably a spin option).
  • Aravinda is an underrated bowler in my view and has a lovely action - he'll help in the middle overs.

Looked at the stats and I think we have the advantage on those. Particularly top and middle order until 6 anyway. Too late now tonight will post more tomorrow good luck anyway.

Good luck The Cat.

I did block Akram off in the reinforcement rounds because I think both Willis and Roberts are players you'd probably upgrade for an ODI finals in a draft of this quality. I'm also not convinced by Botham in this format.

I agree. I still (still ) think you are a bit light on quick options for a five match series, as Symonds isn't doing it for me at medium pace though the addition of Kapil is top drawer. In a final I expect more quality options from the quick unit.

Your bowling is clearly ahead overall though; and though on paper Cat's top order is supreme yours holds its own and your lower middle is fantastic.

Hard lines @Himannv I knew that would be close if I even scraped it.

Think without Sachin I was definitely sunk I got lucky with the final pick.

Would be a hell of a team put together.

Thanks @Skills for all the work put in to this.
