Portuguese in Premier League

Rui Patricio
Bosingwa-Carvalho-Fonte-Paulo Ferreira
Deco-Meireles-Tiago
B Silva-Ronaldo-Nani

Just realized that half of Portuguese who played in Premier League were at Chelsea.

Is there a Russian xi in any other league, @harms? @Demyanenko_square_jaw ?
You could make a La Liga one as it was one of the main destination for ex-ussr players in the '90s when there was no money at home, though it would be a lot of underachievers and outright flops due to the way that generation went. Hard to come up with a balanced formation as it was mostly midfielders and forwards so i'll go for an impractical Romantsev-like playmaker filled team as befits the era.

Dasaev
Galyamin - Onopko - Nikiforov
Radimov
Karpin - Mostovoi - Khokhlov
Korneev -----------Dobrovolski
Beschastnykh
Unskilled labourer Beschastnykh aside there's actually a lot of talent in that team, but much of it wasted, especially Korneev and Dobrovolski.

Let me challenge you :)

I think you have forgotten the most talented Brazilian players in attack and defence!

Also Cris > Cacapa

------------- Sonny Anderson
Neymar ---- Ronaldinho --- Rai
------------------ Juninho -----
Leonardo --- Mozer --- Ricardo--- Maicon
--------------- Thiago Silva

Bench: Edmilson, Maxwell, Néné, Valdo
True. Reason why I had chosen Caçapa instead Cris was more based on him being there since the begining of the winning sequences.

Didn't mentioned Mozer because I already had mentioned him for Portugal. Lets not take this literally.

Find one better than this.

Not a nation but Scandinavians in the PL;

Schmeichel

Hyypia
Mellberg
Johnsen

Pedersen
Eriksen
Gravesen
Ljungberg

Zlatan
Flo
Solskjaer
Zlatan as RW?! He will certainly cause a ruckus over this, insult the manager (Sven-Göran Eriksson?) and with the help of his buddy Minola force a move to AC Milan the next season!

Another stab at Argentinian's in La Liga:

Fillol
Wolff - Ruggeri - Ayala - Sorin
Simeone - Redondo
Di Stefano
Messi ------ Maradona
Kempes
That team is just ridiculous. Good luck trying to take the ball away from them.

Pretty bad that I had to throw in Hutchinson (plays for Besiktas) just so I can have 11 players. It didn't help that I could only think of 9 players so Wiki helped me with Arfield

Juninho in for Jesus and into Firmino's spot?
I started the Brazilian one because of a quick flash thought of Emerson and Juninho. then as I went through the team, it kind of dawned on me that better players are taking their spots and they have no place in the team.

Given Firminho is on course to win the league whilst being an important cog, I couldn't justify Juninho over him, tbh.

seeing your quote, I just saw Otomendi in Brazil :nervous:

What an oversight! Fixed!

EDIT#2: and as you asked about Jesus NOT Firminho being removed ( :wenger: ) , I couldn't take out such a mobile player who will allow everyone else to flow in behind him.

Should probably alter the formation so one of Zaha, Okocha or Mané replaces Babayaro tbh.
I'd have Kanu on the bench, and play the following front 6:

Essien Y. Toure
Okocha
Mahrez Drogba Salah

I opted for Di Maria instead of Kempes because he fitted better in that already unbalanced trio. His late Madrid version especially. Kempes will be running into the same overloaded space. I'm open to fullback suggestions — I've missed Sorin and I'm not really impressed by other options.

I'm not the biggest fan of Simeone, to be honest, I always thought that it was goals that made him a special players and we certainly don't need any more of those with that attacking unit. The additional defensive stability that Mascherano provides is very much welcome — but there is an argument that he mostly played at CB for Barcelona.
Fair enough.

I also forgot Sorin.

Simeone was both about goals and defensive stability too. Had more than 100 international games with Argentina, he was special.

Btw, didn't Fillol only play 13 games in the league? Just checked it out before.

Papin

Lack a centre-forward who really caught fire there. Trezeguet the closest, but lacks the punch of a Papin or Henry.

Shout out to C. Jensen (legend). Most players obviously not in their prime at the times, but who cares

Serie A
Bendtner
Helveg Kjær M. Laursen Durmizi
C. Poulsen Berggreen
B. Laudrup M. Laudrup Jørgensen
Elkjær
Maybe some of the old legends should be in there like Præst and Guld-Harald. Also couldnt find a goalkeeper at all so Bendtner takes that spot.

La Liga
Andersen
Rytter Kjær Stadsgaard Wass
Gravesen Arnesen
Krohn-Dehli Laudrup
Simonsen H. Jensen
Was excited to make this with Laudrup and Simonsen, but rest isnt really that exciting

Could probably make some good teams in Germany or Holland but going to bed now

No Niemi in my SPL side then, never mind:

Hedman
Berg - Mjallby - Weighorst - Stensaas
Laudrup - Thern - Gravesen - Prytz
Larsson - Flo
I think that trumps the EPL equivalent.

I couldn't think of another goalkeeper nor a decent left back. Other than that quite a decent team. Coached by Huub Stevens, with Rob Reekers, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Lodi Roembiak coming in as subs.

I'd swop Whelan for Gerry Daly, move Giles to left wing, bring Brady into centre mid and stick Duff on the right.
