I'm not celebrating the departure of Veron as such.
But I am enjoying the hysteria that's coming from people who were very quick to hurl the insults at those who were sad to see Beckham leave.
It's about the team, not about one player, etc. etc.
What goes round comes round I suppose.

No player (maybe one or two guys, at the most) at the club issued a "Don't go, Becks" plea, when the transfer saga with Barcelona and Real Madrid was on. There was, however, a rallying cry behind Veron when his transfer saga was on. Getting rid of Beckham was something positive for the club, because for whatever we were losing footballing wise (the best right foot in the world, surely) we were also gaining in camaraderie, in spirit. This is the only reason I was fine about Beckham leaving the club.
But, surely, I don't understand one bit, how Veron is let go. Not with the way the team was pleading for him to stay. Players would not come out this way, if their manager did not want something to be said to the higher ranks of the club! Footballing wise, we surely did not want Veron to go. Why he is let go? I have no clue .
But, well, I still hold hope until he actually signs for Chelsea.

Yes, he is actually signed. Let the celebration starts.

I do so hope for all you Juan haters that next season Chelsea do beat us at Stamford bridge quite convincingly and maybe a Veron special on a free kick too? God, you guys are pathetic!

Unless he did harm to this team, I don't see the reason why you should celebrate. In every game he played he tried one thing, to contribute toward the team and win the game played! If he is really a true Red, I will wish him well as a true fan. But as I've said in another thread, I'm never convinced that Veron's blood is Red.

So you're saying you'll not wish Scholes well just because he supports Oldham Athletic?

Don't be pathetic. At least Scholes won't moan about how good is Oldham and how he wants to join them once in a while. I think as a fan you at least have a basic instinct which tell you which player is a Red thru and thru, which is not.

To be honest I don't know whether to or
If I were you I wouldn't believe all those quotes in the papers. They are mostly made up. And based on that you purport to decide which player is a Red and which player isn't? That's not pathetic, its plain stupid.
Veron did some good things for us. He wasn't the greatest but neither was he the worst. So acknowledge both facts, say thanks for the memories and say good luck.

Bottome line, he played for united and gave his best at match day so that your team will win. On top of that, he got sold agains his will.

I have a bad feeling this deal is going to come back and haunt us but I hope not. I still can't forget the great match he played for us last season against arsenal at old trafford. Does anyone else remember that match? I guess veron's career as a red devil will always be remembered as inconsistant, He did have a couple of fabulas european nights however I think in the champions league is were we will miss him most. I hope SAF has a big suprise up his sleeve, maybe patrick viera?

He might do better for chelski, teams always play harder against us than they do against chelsea so he may well find life a bit easier.
But not against us though.

He gave his best for us nearly once per ten matches. Sold against his will? How do you get it? He like blue shirts after all and his agent has long been saying that they were negotiating with Chelski.
We bought him with high price and gave him high wage, but what did we get back after two years? One EPL trophy, and that's because he didn't play in the most important period!
At the end, I don't disagree people thank him for his contribution, but I also think we have enough reason to celebrate for his departure.

Oh so the reason we only won the EPL once in the last two years is all down to JSV is it and nobody else ? There is no doubt that most people who actually know something about football describe Veron as a great player, one of the best midfielders in the world. The fact United did not always get the best out of him may not entirely be his fault. The on field relationship with Keane, Scholes and to a certain extent Becks did not always harmonise. In other words Veron was not always deployed to greatest advantage. It will be very interesting to see what happens at Chelsea and whether or not he is utilised better there. All this proposed celebration at his departure is both premature and idiotic.

Not at all - he didn't perform consistently. Not all of us think he's the great player many other believe him to be. I maintain that he is a 1 in 5 player, always has been (in Italy too), always will be. Witness also his sterling performances as captain in the world cup - he was even taken off in one match. Some people need to remove the coloured glasses. He's undoubtedly got a lot of talent, but getting him to make the most of it is apparently a thankless task, which incidentally involved some serious defences of him and his performances by our manager, defences which were not rewarded with consistent performance.

Sven and Bielsa gave him a different role but Fergie did'nt test him in the same postion and his onfield relationship with Keane did'nt help him either. He might be used better in Chelsea but I dont think he can make it big in the PL.
