I’ve always been interested in this story. It is a difficult piece of history to gather a lot of information on as some articles will cite his family being involved in slavery, which is why he’s barely known to the footballing world. However some, like this, have a more open view. Obviously no-one appears to know for sure but the footballing aspect remains insightful.
