My fav player, Mike Modano, was checked into the boards by a player (with intent to hurt) and Bill Guerin beats the guy's ass. Just look at Boughner's face after the fight. Dallas Stars Official Website

Yeah. It was Conroy that mouthed off. Downey went right at him early in the game and Conroy backed off. Pussy. Iginla tried to fight Hatcher, but the refs had Hatcher's arms and Iginla just mouthed off. I thought there would be more fights. I know one thing- if I was a bad ass hockey guy, I would have dropped my gloves right after the opening face off and beat Conroy's ass. I am glad to finally see the Stars have some fighters. Modano and Lehtinen are benefitting from the enforcement.

Of course. Because when you are a real team, like Detroit, with a real coach, you don't buy a Stanley Cup, you just improve on an already perfect team. :D Of course we gave it up for a few years, but who are we to hog the holy grail of hockey?

Didn't buy a Stanley Cup my ass. I could have fecking coached that team to victory. My Leafs are a real team, with a real coach and the best captain in the league. If that's not enough, we have Darcy Tucker :p

I used to live in Northwest Ohio and root for the team in Ann Arbor. But alas, I found religion when I went to OSU. Even my dad who never would have EVER rooted for OSU before that had a change of heart when his little girl graduated from OSU two years ago. Been a life long Red Wings fan though and even though we have a team here, well it is not the same ( or is it? Lived and died with Detroit in the worst of times so maybe?)
My husband roots for that team in Ann Arbor. Their house is a divided one. Father in law and his brother both graduates of the law school up there. Mother in law is from Columbus. When the big game is played up there we go. Was there to see us win up there for the first time in 14 years. And oh how sweet it is being 2-0 against M-M-M that school up north. :D

And when did Lord Stanley's Cup actually grace the city of Toronto ( besides the fact that it resides at the Hall of Fame which does not count. )

What is the big deal about Darcy Tucker? Give me Eddie Belfour any day, if I had to take a Leafs goalie. Otherwise give me Cujo and Legace.
BTW, who is the captain up there?

Didn't the mighty Avs do the double over the Red Wings a couple of weeks ago. 1-0 in Detroit and 5-3 i think in Denver. ;)

In contrast to Liverpool's five-year plan, Detroit had a successful one-year plan ;)

anymore..EVERY team buys their winning teams....its a silly point.just those that are better liked have more cash to deal with,so i guess it all boils down to popularity eh?

That was what I meant by the fact that we gave it up for a few years. Not gonna hog it Lord Stanley's Cup. Av's are a good team, I have been watching Patrick Roy his whole career, from his first season with Montreal ( won the Cup that year :D ) Truth is Jade is right, its not about buying the Cup any more cause everyone does it. It is what the business is about I suppose. I have been a Wings fan ( and Canadiens) fan for many years. Something about the origianl six and the history. :)

Bought Hasek, Hull, Robitaille, the list goes on...this year, the Stars will buy the Cup. There are only about 6 legitimate teams that can really be counted as Cup contenders every season...about the same in baseball.

Only a couple of teams in baseball have bought a championship, one of them being the Yankees. Like I said, its a business, like everything else. When you have deep pockets, hey more power to ya. :D

And the more success they have, the richer they get.
