There is a reason all the new signings and Woodward call us the biggest team in the world.
I'm 6'1 and I've met him in real life. We were pretty much the same height. HTH.Luke Shaw isn't 6 foot 1
In that case Jones would look short too as he's listed as the same height as Shaw. I've honestly always thought of him as a little short, even if I was wrong he may be 5ft 11 or so, he can't be centre back height, I just can't believe that.I'm 6'1 and I've met him in real life. It's just that most premier league athletes are 6+ so they don't seem so big on tv.
181 is 5ft11 not 5ft9. I'd be surprised if Shaw was taller than Valencia.Fifa has Jones and Shaw as 6 foot/185cm.
Surprisingly they have Valencia as 5'9/181cm. He looks taller than that to me.
Google was wrong. Thought that was way too short.181 is 5ft11 not 5ft9. I'd be surprised if Shaw was taller than Valencia.
It's definitely an added advantage to have big guys in defence and to attack set pieces. This team is bound to be a handful from corners.Having the tallest team is nothing to brag about lol.
shaw is a bit stocky in build so he looks shorter than he is whereas Jones is thin so he looks taller than he isIn that case Jones would look short too as he's listed as the same height as Shaw. Google isn't wrong. 0.9 of a foot is 11inches.Google was wrong. Thought that was way too short.
Does it really have anything to do with height? Martial is pretty tall and seems to posses really good close control. There is that old saying, "A good big un always beats a good small un". I think it mainly comes from boxing or fighting, but it does translate to most sports I guess. Bolt would be a good example. Also I don't think a good big sportsman beats a good smaller sports person every time, but I'd guess it would be around seven out of every ten.
And Messi and all the other low centre of gravity short arses don't count
Agree.I believe that when you combine physical factors such as height, size, strength and speed with technical qualities then you do increase your chances of winning.
1. Having tall, big and strong players allows you to physically wear down the opponent and their stamina. Tackles, 50/50's and duels take more out smaller players.
2. Having tall, big and strong players, in some respects, mentally affects the smaller opposition in some way. It's psychological too.
3. Having tall, big and strong players allows for variation in tactical approach, whether on the ground or vertically, providing your tall players match smaller players technical standard.
I hated United playing the mid to early 2000's Arsenal because they matched us on a technical level and physically we couldn't match them man-for-man. We had the quality to beat them, thankfully, but my point is this. We, and others, psychologically dreaded playing that big, tall, fast, technical, strong Arsenal.
You think your eyes are more accurate than an actual measuring tape? I'll smoke whatever you're having please.I don't think so but I have eyes
Well I'm 6'4" and he's precisely 5 inches shorter than me. So who knows? You think your eyes are more accurate than an actual measuring tape? I'll smoke whatever you're having please.
I still doubt itWow finally the chance to score from set pieces
Lukaku' headed goal from the corner gave me false hopeI still doubt it
add Bale and we are quids inI think this thread is a good compliment to my muscle mass thread. Yeah, we're building a squad for battle.
I'm pretty sure agility and, maybe to a lesser extent, balance are usually linked to height but technique isn't.Does it really have anything to do with height? Martial is pretty tall and seems to posses really good close control.
I'm a quite tall guy and I'd be the 3rd shortest in that teamIn all seriousness, our side next season could be huge.
DeGea(189cm)
Valencia (179cm)
Shaw(185cm)
Bailly(187cm)
Lindelof(187cm)
Matic(195cm)
Herrera(182cm)
Pogba(191cm)
Rashford(185cm)
Lukaku(191cm)
Perisic (187cm)?
Valencia would be our smallest player but he's an absolute monster so...
