I'm 6'1 and I've met him in real life. We were pretty much the same height. HTH.
It's just that most premier league athletes are 6+ so they don't seem so big on tv.
In that case Jones would look short too as he's listed as the same height as Shaw. I've honestly always thought of him as a little short, even if I was wrong he may be 5ft 11 or so, he can't be centre back height, I just can't believe that.
Fifa has Jones and Shaw as 6 foot/185cm.
Surprisingly they have Valencia as 5'9/181cm. He looks taller than that to me.

181 is 5ft11 not 5ft9. I'd be surprised if Shaw was taller than Valencia.
Google was wrong. Thought that was way too short.
With the height advantage we got in this team, it's a pity that we don't have a dead ball specialist like Beckham or Dimitri Payet. Our corner/free kick takers are usually Blind, Mhki, Rashford, Mata and Young. None of them can be considered good/consistent at it, let alone specialist.

There is that old saying, "A good big un always beats a good small un". I think it mainly comes from boxing or fighting, but it does translate to most sports I guess. Bolt would be a good example. Also I don't think a good big sportsman beats a good smaller sports person every time, but I'd guess it would be around seven out of every ten.

I have seen many saying that Jose prefers tall players but if you check signings made by Chelsea and City, all are above 6 feet except Bernardo Silva.

It's definitely an added advantage to have big guys in defence and to attack set pieces. This team is bound to be a handful from corners.
shaw is a bit stocky in build so he looks shorter than he is whereas Jones is thin so he looks taller than he is

Thought Rashford was like 5"11 did he grow a couple inches this year? He looks taller than he is due to his thin build, that's for sure.

Height is important - but the difference between 6' and 6'2 is easily compensated
Steve Bruce wasn't the tallest but he was probably the best player at set-pieces United ever had. I assume he was a good 3 inches shorter than Pallister at least. He was still a lot more deadly on set-pieces.

We're shocking at attacking set pieces, so I don't know if the height has actually been an advantage.

Here, PA Sport lists all 20 clubs by the average height of their first-team squad in metres and centimetres (6ft = 1m 82.9cm).
Mourinho’s three summer additions Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic are all well over 6ft, while winger target Ivan Perisic is 1.87m and could lift them to the top of the table if he signs.

I'm pretty sure agility and, maybe to a lesser extent, balance are usually linked to height but technique isn't.
I'm a quite tall guy and I'd be the 3rd shortest in that team
