World No 1 Ashleigh Barty has announced her shock retirement from professional tennis at the age of 25. She is the reigning Wimbledon and Australian Open champion.
Watching her at Wimbledon last year during the pandemic, the distraction kind of draws you to a person. She was clearly the best by a country mile with many years of tennis ahead of her.
Her decision to retire (for a 2nd time) to pursue other goals is a real shock, defo slap in the face type shock. I thought she was going to progress and be a big player for the next 10 years.
