Australia vs Uruguay

I am so looking forward to this game now. It's been 4 very long years of waiting to make amends for that night at the MCG when we crashed out to Iran. I think the entire nation is rallying behind our boys now, and I think this is going to be our year.

4 years of very painful memories are about to be burried I feel.

:)

Can't wait for Tuesday to come round. Got my flight, match ticket and hotel booked and this should be a cracker. The feeling about this game is HUGE and I think Australia will finally get there after 28 years.
Still think England will win it though.

Lucky bastard. Enjoy the game mate!

I saw this show on SBS this arvo about that match against Iran. Everyone waving Aussie flags, singing the national anthem at the top of their voices, amazing atmosphere, everything. Wish I was going to it! If it had been in Sydney, I would've gone for sure!

Im so nervous about this game its not funny. I was very confident pre-Iran game, and I sort of feel that I should be confident about these 2 games aswell, but deep in my gut, I can feel that sense of loss again.
I dont wanna get dissapointed like last time, so im gonna set my expectations low.
But geez it would be good if they made it.
CMON AUSSIES !

This is the year that Australia finally get a good result, too many times in the past we have let ourselves down at the home-leg. The atmosphere at that night vs. Iran was incredible. As of today there was only 2,500 tickets left. So we are looking at 90,000+ on Tuesday night. Uruguay have already arrived in Melbourne, their start striker Dario Silva is out for the away leg and their coach has said he will miss their home leg, not sure if that is true or not.

Good news for Australia, FIFA has wiped the slate clean on the yellow cards situation, Brett emerton, Josip Skoko, Paul Okon and Kevin Muscatt were one yellow card away from a one match suspension so that is good news.

Relaxed atmposhere in the Australian squad, yesterday at the MCG, instead of tactics being discussed, Aussie Rules was being played.

Can hardly wait for the match to arrive, got my ticket, i think all of Melbourne is gripped with football(soccer) fever. The Bourke St. Mall was packed when the Socceroos where there, some 4th grade school primary teacher of Harry Kewell got into the limelight by producing a class photo with Harry in it. Yesterday at Rebel's Sports Store in the city, Mark Viduka was there to sign Leeds products as Rebel launched their Leeds range, they have had United products out for years.

Sense today came out of the spat between Paul Okon and Paul Wade. Paul Wade suffers from epilepsy and suffered Sunday night while trying to interview Okon for C7 on Sunday night. He suffered a fit and that is why his speech was slurred and why Okon thought Wade was trying to take the mickey out of him.

We need a good result to take to Montevideo next Sunday.

Maybe we can show him and his assistants around Lygon St. here in Melbourne and he may find a long lost relative :)

Yeah, we want to play England, since they never want to play us in fear that they would get beaten against us.

If we can make it to the World Cup Finals, i think it would be a tremendous boost for the National Soccer League here in Oz.

The Socceroos heads into tomorrow night's World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay having only lost once on the hallowed MCG turf. That was of course against Manchester United in July 1999 when a very much make shift Australian side lost 2-0 to United through goals from Jesper Blomqvist and Nicky Butt.

Tonight on SBS, we can see that the jink end of the MCG is the Punt Rd. End where of course Iran scored their 2 goals, France scored last week, Brazil scored their 2 goals and Jesper scored down that end as well.

One Terry Venables was a bit scared, he never wanted to play us in case England lost and so would have been his job.

It would be a very interesting match if it evers happens this century. Well the English football team doesn't have the same pathetic losing attitude as their cricketers, but i think Australia would make a good game of it.

Same feeling, but can't hardly wait till tonight's kick-off in 6 hours time. The atmosphere tonight should be really good. 23 degrees here in Melbourne today so there is no chance of rain tonight and with a crowd around 90,000-95,000, we can win tonight. We just have to be prepared that Uruguay are going to have a heap of possesion.
