Not the very best but effective and a real threat on their day, better than the sum of their parts, and British as in played in England, Scotland, Wales
Eg, Woodcock and Withe, Dixon and Speedie, Sherringham and Klinsmann

Carew and Agbonhahore played well but not sure whether they fit here.

The first who came to mind was Robbie Keane and Mark Viduka.
They played together at Leeds, didn't they?
Think they fit into this category.

Sorry I thought you meant 2nd Div/Div 1/championship level originally.

Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips.

Only second tier relative to the likes of Van Basten and Gullit, but:

Larsson and Sutton
McCoist and Hateley
Dalglish and Rush

Nathan Ellington and Jason Roberts were great for Wigan in the inaugural Championship season in 04-05. I vaguely recall a segment on Sky in which they were cutting each other's hair and pretending that such was the strength of their connection they had achieved telepathy.

Sheringham and Cascarino were fantastic at Millwall.

Surely the best 2nd tier pairing.

Drogba and Torres.

Billed as 2 of the best strikers in the league, don't think they ever played a pass to eachother.

Relative to the Dutchies yes. Mind you've got Klinsmann in there as well who was hardly second rate either.

Perhaps more like:

Beardsley and Cole at Newcastle
Smith and Wright at Arsenal
Juan Sara and Fabian Caballero at Dundee
Darren Jackson and Keith Wright at Hibs
Tommy Coyne and Owen Coyle at Motherwell

I was always very impressed with Crouch and Defoe when they paired up for either Spurs or Pompey. They were the classic ‘little and large’ combination and worked really well as a duo.
