Which is the better team? A team made up of World Cup winning captains or European Cup/CL winning captains?

The players are picked by them being the captain on the day and at the start of the game i.e Schmeichel instead of Keane.

Also the same player can't appear on both teams i.e Lahm was captain of a World Cup and CL winning team.

World Cup

-----------------------------Zoff--------------------------
Alberto----Moore----Cannavaro----Lahm
-----------------------Beckenbauer------------------
----------Deschamps---------Dunga--------------
-------------------------Matthaus----------------------
----------Maradona------------Meazza------------

European Cup/Champions League

-------------------------Schmeichel-------------------------
Ramos--------Puyol----Baresi----Ferdinand---Maldini
---------------Zanetti-----Xavi------Iniesta--------
------------------Cruyff--------------Charlton------------

European cup winning captains without a doubt, more players to pick from.

Well, if it's a team with 5 centre halves against one with 4 holding midfielders, the CL lot win because they can have Mourinho as manager.

To make it fair, we should only use Champions League captains (1992-present).

The lack of forward options makes this very difficult, I had to put Iniesta and Gerrard on the wings because there literally wasn't anyone else.

Iniesta - Vialli - Gerrard
Xavi - Redondo - Effenberg
Maldini - Puyol - Baresi - Zanetti
Schmeichel

I’d probably go 3-5-2 with the World Cup team, something like:

Zoff
Carlos Alberto - Moore - Passarella
Cafu - Beckenbauer - Varela - Matthaus - Lahm
Maradona - Meazza

I think you’d want Gento in the EC/CL team.

A Euros team isn’t far off the mark, just lacking a captaining right-back.

Casillas
Dietz- Ondrus - Beckenbauer - Facchetti
Sammer
Deschamps - Netto
Platini
Gullit - C Ronaldo
