Bjorn Kuipers

Euro 2020: Dutchman Kuipers to referee Sunday's final

Kuipers was the referee for England and Italy's 2014 World Cup group-stage match in Brazil, which ended 2-1 to the Azzurri.

The 48-year-old was fourth official for England's opening game against Croatia earlier in the competition.

Can anyone give me a rundown on him? Will we be easily cheated by either side?

@KirkDuyt you must know a thing or two about him.

Why isn't the ref English, thought UEFA were bent in our favour? More brown envelopes need to be delivered.
Bjorn kuipers is actually his alias. His real name is bob kippers from Hartlepool but shhhhh, this is being kept very hush hush for obvious reasons.

By far our best ref. Usually not easily cheated. Neymar hates him, since I think he booked him for diving a few times.

He makes the odd mistake of course, they all do.

He also owns a line of supermarkets. Do with that what you will.

Should've been Felix Brych.

Dude's name is Bjorn, he's gotta be part Danish. I expect Italy to get 86 penalties Everytime Immobile takes a dive

He was the ref in our matches against Belgium and Chech. He was very good in both those matches.

Very good ref. I like him. No nonsense. I remember he gave Marco Verratti a red card for trying to bully him.

At least let yesterday's events cool down before you start throwing around the diving accusations.

Yeah. He has been the better ref in this tournament.
Should’ve been sent back to Germany the minute Portugal-Belgium ended, absolutely atrocious performance without any leadership. Actually ridiculous he even got a semi final after that.

Brilliantly reffed thus far. Both teams will think they should have had a couple more fouls - but I’d love all matches to be run like this. Cut out the antics.

Basically decided there will be no cheating in this game by deciding there will be no fouls

Seems almost impossible to referee football games perfectly, but it has to be said some of the refs in this tournament have gotten pretty close.

Overall quality of officiating has been excellent and a huge improvement on the PL standard we’re used to.

Agreed. Such a shame we will have to deal with shitty pl refs soon.

Jorginho lucky there. Giving a yellow isn't so wrong that I'd have expected VAR to overrule it but a red would have been pretty unremarkable too.
