Surely there are enough grounds for a mass boycott of an inherently corrupt and amoral organisation? Why then is this not something that I ever hear a whisper of, not even in the peak of the Blatter years?

If Russia is allowed to play, then i'd be behind nations withdrawing. It's an absolute disgrace it's in November/December, to begin with.

FIFA know if they ban Russia, Putin will air FIFA's dirty secrets for all to know including their 'winning bid' for the 2018 World Cup and that will be the end of FIFA.

Russian players didn't invade Ukraine, why they shouldn't be allowed to play?

Russian people didnt invade Ukraine - why should they suffer with all of these sanctions that will be a catastrophe for their daily lives?

Stupid comment.

Ukrainian families didn’t ask for Russia to bomb their homes and invade their country either but here we are they are fleaing to bordering countries with some leaving their husbands/fathers behind to fight not knowing if they’ll be seen again.

Every possible sanction should be thrown at Russia in hope to deter Putin.

Just playing devil’s advocate here - if FIFA didn’t sanction the US (when it invaded Iraq) which lead to deaths of thousands of civilians, why should it sanction Russia? Are some people worth more than others? Not that FIFA gives a shit about any group of people.

those were the good kind of white people invading another country, not the bad kind of white people invading another country.

Stop hijacking the thread.

Why has a potential boycott of FIFA not even been discussed? We've had a super league almost come to life ffs. I understand it's all powerful but surely the biggest countries now have enough leverage to build a fresh association?

A boycott like this won’t happen from member nations as too many of them have vested financial interests (apart from political ones) in avoiding it. You’d need massive grassroots organizing to get people to hit FIFA’s sponsors, and that’s the only way I could see member countries even considering a proposal for boycott. I don’t think enough people have strong enough opinions (on a grassroots level) about FIFA to bring together a boycott like that. You’d need a vision beyond just boycotting - what would an alternative look like, how would it’s leadership be structured etc. Too many moving pieces to be an effective boycott IMO.

Fifa Recently banned 2 African countries Zimbabwe and Kenya from participating in football because their government interfered in soccer ⚽, y they did not ban Russia completely?

Russian players didn't invade Ukraine, period.
Punishing them for something that they didn't do it's ridiculous.

Where is the punishment for american and british athletes since UK and USA bombed Lybia, Afghanistan, and Iraq? Zero punishment.

Where is the punishment for israelí athletes since Israel is bulldozing palestinian homes?

Russian players deserve to be in the WC if they qualify.

Banning them when FIFA didn't do shit when America and UK bombed kids in the Middle East would look like FIFA only cares about certain people doing the bombing.

Plus FIFA supports Israel, despite israeli government bulldozing palestinian houses.

Thankfully Russia are being punished for Putins actions. Any and all sanctions should be used.

The West only cares when white people get killed in conflict.

The UN Security Council resolution that instructed Iraq to disarm and that it was their "final opportunity" to do so is the difference. There is nothing for this invasion.

FIFA will clearly ban Russia

A number of countries won’t play them anyway, including England. The FA confirmed this yesterday.

Old enough to remember what UK and America did in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Afghanisation was UN approved and sanctioned, Iraq depends on who you ask, but there was at least a UN resolution calling for Iraq to dis-arm immediately and that it was their final warning, Libya no-fly zone was again UN approved.

I don't doubt the nobility of your whataboutery, but this thread doesn't refer to Russia in particular. It's about the many unpunished sins of FIFA. So stick to the topic if you're old enough to do so.

Anything associated with being a positive for Russia should be taken away from them. Football is one of those things.
Explain to me why football players should get special treatment when Russian soldiers are murdering families in Ukraine? Shooting fecking innocent children!!
Yes the footballers are not doing the shooting but neither are Ukrainian civilians !

FIFA are corrupt cnuts so they are not able to take the high ground on anything. Shower of cnuts.
