Gosh there are so many. Off the top of my head, I'd say it was back in 2005, when on just his third appearance for Nice, he scored his first goal in the 66th minute with an extroadinary shot from almost 45 meters out against nearby rivals Monaco The goal turned out to the game winner as Nice won the match 2–1.

I actually did remember this guy, but yea, haven't heard about him for a really long while.

Deisler burning out at 27 was the most notable case that came to mind.

Late 1970s, there was a really good, fringe England International Wolves player called Peter Knowles who retired at 25 after about 170 first team appearences because, he said, being a Pro Footballer was incompatible with being a Jehova's Wtness.

Before he was past his mid 20s, instead of being an International Footballer, he was doing the door knocking inbetween being a milkman in Wolverhampton

I always fall for these threads. (Before the BREAKING NEWS title update, that is. Made it too obvious.)

Van Basten, although probably not that much of a shock because of his constant injury troubles.

What's wrong with the first one? Was the thread title changed from something else?

And the second one looks like it was deliberately posted in the wrong forum to WUM.

Nothing like this thread.
First one was "It's official: The Saudis are taking over".

Wrong forum or not, the gist is the same.
