Would be the ultimate slap in the face for a British Super League to happen right after all the outrage for the Euro one.

That said Celtic and Rangers would flop right now in the Prem and I'm uncertain they would survive relegation in the Championship. Early 2000s both teams would've comfortably been perennial top 6 and potential winners. Worlds apart now.
Wherever they entered the British pyramid, I suspect they will eventually rise to establish themselves as comfortable PL teams.

This the same Rangers that have defeated Porto, Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Antwerp, Feyenoord, Young Boys, Galatasaray, Willem II, Legia Warsaw, Lech Poznań in the last two seasons?

Yes the teams have declined, but let’s not get ridiculous about how far.

You can put your Rangers hat away lad. They played great in Europe but would need serious investment to be playing with English teams regularly. If you want to get into their results domestically alone they lost to Hearts, Kilmarnock, Hamilton, St Mirren and thats me just looking for 1 min.

Unbeaten for the league season. There’s no chance Championship sides could perform to that sustained level in Europe.

All a bit meaningless though. As soon as you arrive in the PL you get a 170m increase in TV money. That’s where any further investment comes from.

I never said it was a good idea. I said I wanted to see Great Britain demolish other teams as there would be more quantity to the quality. It would be worse for the other countries apart from England for sure - but it's not like it never happened before as we saw it in the olympics.
What did we see in the olympics? Team GB demolish other teams? Don’t think so!

All though the scottish teams would be almost starting from scratch if it was to happen, Long term in say 10 years Time it would eventually be of a greater benefit to them compared to if in 10 years time they are still just in a scottish exclusive league pyramid considering the growth of the english game whilst the Scottish scene just loses more and more relevance.

Moyes pushing the idea of a Premier League 2 with Celtic and Rangers invited to that, and Scottish leagues having a route into that level as part of a new pyramid.

BBC News - David Moyes: West Ham boss calls for a unified British competition https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56865597

Have to admit its an interesting idea, because it doesn't just abandon the rest of Scottish football and gives the Old Firm a chance to bed in.
You'll have to fix the link. EDIT: here https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/56865597

Is this just Scottish - English, or could the rest of United Kingdom clubs join as well?

EDIT: He's actually talking about Premier League 1, and Premier League 2.

David, you're crazy.

Typical nonsense from Moyes. Their answer to everything is cut down the Premiership or top league to make way for more games. The league, in whatever country, should be the pinnacle of any club, with everything else secondary. Too many games. There is so many areas to look at, where do we start. Pointless friendly internationals. B International tournaments, UEFA has so many to cull, clubs so called summer pre season training where they go on some massive holiday for gold, & David Moyes would be a start Leave the leagues alone & cull all the rubbish first.

It isn't an unreasonable argument - as such - that Celtic and Rangers might do very well over time across the border. In terms of history, local support and even world wide appeal those two clubs have a lot going for them - much more than a number of English clubs that have featured in the Premier League recently.

Nor is it unprecedented that non-English clubs compete within the English system - for that matter.

It was much discussed when Rangers were riding high in the 90s.

Not saying I'm in favour of it at all - but the idea itself isn't positively outlandish as these things go.

It would obviously destroy the Scottish league completely - and it would raise all sorts of questions with regard to how those teams should be introduced: They probably wouldn't be interested in spending years moving up through the tiers of the English system.

They definitely wouldn't be interested which is why it hasn't happened before now. Think they're still waiting for an invite straight into the PL. They'll be waiting a long time for that to arrive.

Yep - that's the long and short of it.

And the likelihood of getting that invite has just become smaller after this "super league" fiasco, really.

And the best evidence of that being Rangers’ preference to go from League 2 in Scotland back up to the top tier over the course of the last decade, rather than entertain any similar journey in the English system.
